Second injection
June 11th, 2009
Hi, This is Penny writing the day after Kyle’s 2nd injection. We have kept ourselves very busy today. We haven’t noticed much of a difference today however he continues to roll himself from left to right and pulling his legs up towards his chest. I did notice today that I was able to straighten his fingers out completly on his right hand and that is something new even though he can’t do it himself I think it will be just a matter of time. They did start acupuncture today on his face so he did have a needle in the top of his head, one on his chin, and one on each side of his neck (yes that was hard for me to watch). We did go for a nice walk today and had a nice lunch out. It was 90′ degrees! Kyle is going crazy because everywhere we go we have to push him and it is like he has lost his independance and of course we are not the best drivers. We tend to leave him facing a wall or even in an isle at the store. His new favorite word to us is… BUMP! He is always watching where we are pushing him. Tonight we took two of the new families over the the shopping mart and that was interesting we had 3 push wheelchairs and 3 carts full of item.We are hanging out in the room watching a movie and are going to call it a day. Good Morning to all of you and a good night to us.
Love Penny,Andrew and Kyle

Sounds like you guys are doing great !! With the results from the 1st injection, I can hardly wait to see what happens after the 2nd one. I have quite a few questions but will wait for you to return. Penny, remember me telling you about George, the guy I work with and his niece also has SMA. I have been telling him about Kyle’s successes and he is very interested about learning more. I have given him your blog address so he can follow Kyles progress. He also think’s it is awesome as everyone else does.
Thinking of you guys lots and I say a prayer every nite for all of you. Take care. Love ya.

Greetings Kyle!
I was very happy to finally read your blog – I’ve sat and looked at the screen several times – not knowing to hit the “home” button! Dah!! Your progress sound great! I am so happy for you!
Today was the last day of exams – just one 7th hour this morning! The school is now quiet as there are only a few kids “hanging” out! These are probably the same students that we could never get to school during the school year – but now we can’t get rid of them!
The main office, AP office and student services offices are preparing to move to the “new” tech east area for the summer. The entrance to the school will sort of match the new colors of the addition – pretty exciting! It’s too bad we can’t go thru the rest of the building a get rid of the pukey green color! I’m sure right now – you are having a visual and totally missing those beautiful green walls! I’ll keep you informed! Take care – and your smile is missed here at Craig!
From the Principals office,
Mrs. Jones aka Trish

Hi Kyle! I heard you called Craig the other day; I am totally bummed I wasn’t there to share in the conversation. It’s good to hear and read everyone’s excitement at how well you are doing. Question though: I’ve read about pictures you must be posting?! Where can I find them? Thanks!

Hey Kyle!
I’m finishing up work today – 1 more day….Yeah! I was up at Craig putting things away earlier and it was pretty quiet. I was thinking of you – missed you the past 2 weeks kid!
Sounds like things are going well there – I still haven’t gotten on facebook to see ur pics – I’ll have Brad bring it up for me!
I’m getting ready for his graduation party. He graduates this Sat. and party next Sat. lots of work to do before then.

Kelsey drew a picture of the class today after she finished her exam. She drew stick figures of you, Matt, Cody, and me. My picture is telling Cody to shut up.
I almost told Cody to “Go lay down!” instead of sit down. I guess he was acting like a dog?
I am glad to hear that things are going well…except for the needle sticking out of the top of your head. It sounds funny, but I know I would freak out if I were to actually see such a thing.
Later gator.

Hey, Kyle, you got a crash helmet? you’re gonna need it with them pushing you! Justyns getting worried he’s afraid you’re gonna be able to smack him, I’ll pay you. On a serious note, I told you that acupuncture SUCKS! You gotta feel like a pin cushion. Penny, I can’t imagine watching him go through that, I wouldn’t want too. It’s sounds like things keep progressing, I can’t believe it!
It’s about 9pm, just got home from baseball, they won again.
Good morning to you!! We love you guys, take care
