Interesting day
June 19th, 2009
Hi
This is Penny just waiting to go to therapy and thought I woud write a brief note since I am thinking about all of you. Today has been interesting already and it is only 2:00pm The boys and I took a cab to the Harley Davidson store and the Taxi driver didn’t know where it was at so we had to help direct him… HMMMMMM. On the way home we flagged down another taxi (keep in mind we can only take a certain taxi because his wheelchair only goes in the ones that have a larger trunk) after finally making the wheechair fit we had the cab driver try to take us to the grocery store and she had no idea where she was going so we ended up just coming back to the hospital. We will try shopping again later. Kyle had his 4th injection last night and everything went good. Today in therapy we are going to see if we can have them start working on trunk stability. Otherwise not much new. Kyle told us today that when he gets home and continues to progress that he is getting a tatoo that says “made in china.” I think he was serious. Andrew is starting to get a little crabby on me but we are working on that. We have started to count down the days before we come home. I am actually starting to miss work.
Take care everybody and keep us in your thoughts and prayers

Good morning,
Sounds like Chinese people don’t grocery shop or ride Harleys! Kidding. Lots of storms here over night and this morning. Tornado near the airport around 1AMish. A car somehow went into the water at the bridge near the intersection of Center Ave. and Jackson St. Accross the river from Papa Johns pizza place. No one hurt. A little local news to make you homesick!! Good luck with everything today!!

Hey guys,
We had the same problem with our taxi driver when we went to Polar World. When we gave him the note to tell where we wanted to go he nodded that he knew where it was. Well, guess what!! No he didn’t. When we finally arrived he wasn’t sure where to drop us off for tickets and there we were trying to talk to them about where to buy tickets. That was soooo funny! But we made it in. Penny, hang in there I know it’s hard sometimes. We were always told we were the luckiest ones there because we were only there for 3 weeks, I’m sure they were right but I wanted to stay longer. I felt like it took us so long to get there that it shouldn’t be over that soon. Here’s what you need to do, go down to the little store downstairs and buy one of those 50 cents cans of Tsingtao. Ahhh, refreshing. You all take care and we’ll keep ALL of you in our prayers.

I know the perfect person to give you that tattoo!!! Ben of course and I’ll also bet he’d do it for nothing. That would be a neat tattoo to have. Hope you are all doing well.

Kyle-Tim has put aside a guitar for you because he is convinced you will be ready to play by the time you get back:) I think the tatoo is a great idea. Up with the sirens last night-didn’t see any movement at your house so I imagine your Dad slept through it. Hang in there and we’ll see you soon.XO Thea

Hi Kyle, Andrew and Penny
I just got your website from the Goike’s at their Graduation party last weekend. I am so thrilled to be able to follow your progress and success. It sounds like everything is going so well.
We have had a lot of rain and not very many sunny hot days. I think someone is waiting for you to come home to bring the sun down on us!!
We got through graduation and JoJo’s graduation party. They were able to have the ceremony outside and even had fireworks. Remember Andrew it rained for yours and we were in the hot gym?
Rachel has an internship for a Developer in Chicago. Unfortunately they are really slow so she isn’t that busy. But she is living with her cousin and exploring Chicago.
Last week we got a new puppy! A black Lab names Ace. We had to put Duke down a couple of weeks ago.
I will keep read your daily posts and keep you in my prayers. Enjoy your adventure…………

Hello Knopes family,
Penny, don’t miss work too much, it aint that great here. Just kidding, but, nothing has changed. We sure do miss you though. I really like the tatoo idea Kyle. But, it sounds like you don’t care for needles too much, so you may want to re-think that. As for going to the Harley and grocery stores, what were you thinking?? Have you seen those people over there?? They don’t look like they ever eat, and if they do, they still aren’t big enough to touch the ground on a Harley!!! Just kidding!! Keep up the great work Kyle! And as for Andrew, do you just miss your daddy?? Get rid of your crabby pants and have some fun!! Penny I hope you are having some fun too!! You all deserve it!! See ya, Shelley

Hi guys! LOVE the tattoo idea! Hope you get to the grocery store before you have to leave! Poor crabby Andrew, get a massage by a cute Asian woman in a kimono. It couldn’t hurt anyway…
Not too much longer to go and you’ll be home!

Hi Kyle and Co.
Just returned from camping only to check on you and your blog. Can’t believe you are about halfway done with your injections and the progress is overwhelming. I’ll bet it is really kind of wierd also to see your body doing things that you haven’t done in years. I am really pleased about the changes in your arm, fingers and jaw. That will allow you to pick up your own pizza and eat it without worrying about the size of the piece. Enough for a junior to worry about let alone the cut of your food. Sorry to hear the acupuncture is stressful. I go to an acupuncturist in Jvl and love it. Makes a real difference for me. One question that others ask me is where do the stem cells come from? Do you know? are they umbilical cells or embryonic cells? does it matter which kind? Not asking for political or religous reasons, just wanting to know everything we can. Take care and keep up the good work Kyle. You and your family are amazing. What a testimony to family love you have there. Jeanne
15. KyleK | June 22nd, 2009 at 4:32 pm
Hey Jeanne,
The cells are umbilical cord, but I dont know why.

Thinking of you guys. Just found out about the blog last week. I’m so glad to be able to read about Kyle’s progress. Hang in there. You guys are counting down now. Our prayers are with you all!!!! Love ya,
The McCullicks.
