Totay is our last full day here in China and the hospital have got a public holiday something to do with an old Poet from many years ago, they laid on a full spread of food and drinks and gave pressies to the children. Cannot wait to go home on Saturday. We leave Qingdao tomorrow afternoon and stay in a hotel in Beijing just to make sure we get our BA flight at 11.30 am on Saturday.

Mark went for his last spinal injection before we leave on Friday 29th and again like last week they stopped the process as they we having difficulty with the needles and after 3 attempts and another sore back they had to revert to IV. This means that Mark has only had 2 spinal and 4 IV we hope that this ratio is going to be as effective as the 4 spinal and 2 IV that was planned, only time will tell. Mark is resting now and is a little spaced out on vallium he says all manner of strange things. Lisa I got your e-mail re your child and I hve attempted to reply but been unable here in China so will do this on my return to UK.

Mark went for his third spinal stem cell at 5pm for what is normally a 20 min procedure and after 45 mins no sign of Mark, no-one tells us what is going on then after an hour we get the news that there is a complication and there are now 3 doctors with Mark and they attempt the spinal injection 5 times with no success after 2 hours they abandon the procedure and Mark is in a lot of pain. They then commence to insert the stems via IV Wendy the translator stays on until 7pm and has been very good with Mark but we still do not know what went wrong. We will ask for a consultation on Monday when the doctors resume their shifts for a full account of the problems. Mark is due his 6th stem by spinal on Wednesday before we leave on Friday we do not know at this point what will happen.

Mark is about to have his 4th stem cell today this one is IV only so not as big a process as the spinal he should have gone down to the treatment room at 2.50pm but we have just been told the stems are late arriving and everyone is delayed possibly until 6pm.. The doctors tested Mark today too see if here were any improvments and none at this early stage but there is still time. We must still have hope

Mark has had his first spinal stem cell treatment today he now cannot eat for 4 hours he says he doesn’t know what hurts the most his injection or his empty stomach!!!!! He needs to lie fully flat for 6 hours without lifting his head
Everything appears to be going to plan hopefully tomorrow he will be able to get up and about and go out for a few hours in between his treatments

Mark had his first IV stem cell last night at 9pm he went with 2 other patients Chuck and Bailey. Everything went well as far as we know he had too sleep without pillows and stay as still as possible in the night. He wasn’t very good at stying still. Mark said there was no pain he did thing the injection would hurt like it does in the UK but no he felt nothing. The fact that he was with 2 other patients made it more fun they were all laughing and joking throughout the whole thing. Chuck is from Kentucky and Bailey is from Florida . Mark is waiting to go for his acupuncture and his electronic wave therapy at 2pm today.

Mark is waiting to go down for his first stem call treatment he is all injected and ready. We are hoping it goes well fingers crossed.

Very little has happened so far Mark has a schedule each day.
He is woke at 7am for blood taken then he has accupuncture in the mornings and electric wave treatment in the afternoons on the days he is not having his stem cell operations he has his first stem cell on Wednesday 6th May then 2 per week on Mondays and fridays until we leave. He is in very good spirits and is a little anxious for Wednesday His doctor is very nice Dr Bing
