We have heard of the terrible weather and tornados you are having in Nebraska and hope this note finds everyone safe, we have sure been thinking of you all. It has been raining here all day but no wind.  We have had a typical day with therapy and acupuncture, they did add a cardio work out for Nate so that was good.  He has had a lot more energy today and feels good. A headache came on this afternoon but after laying down for a while he felt better.  We don’t have any big plans tonight but on Sunday we are going to visit a temple in the country side with some others on the floor so we are looking forward to that.  It’s been a slow, rainy day so there is not much news.  We were so bored that Nate ordered the ass meat with tofu just for something different.  I had a salad.  He liked it but I didn’t taste it, I like donkey’s. We also got new neighbors from Oman, I had to look it up-it’s in the middle east.  Anyway, they are a mom, dad and teenage daughter; I have not learned if they speak English yet. :)   Well, take care and be safe!  Lovingly, Nan & Nate

    Hi, Nate and Nanette ~~
We keep following the story of your sojourn in China. We were glad to hear that you’ve experienced some improvement already,
Nate. We admire you for working so hard in and taking seriously the various therapies and procedures being offered.

Yes, we had some threatening storms in G. I. last night. We took shelter in our basement bedroom which has no windows. We had overnight guests from Oregon. Eileen had never seen a tornado.
Fortunately, she didn’t get to experiene one–though she did get to see a picture of one spotted near Gibbon last night.

Keep on keepin’ on, Nate. We pray that your body continues to respond to the various therapies you are receiving.
    Peace and love,
    Del and Carolyn

Ass meat with tofu, that made me laugh! What a deal, but Nate glad you can enjoy variety and have humor. You look so light hearted in your picture.
I’m on a short break while helping Bob begin the paint project of our deck railing. He took 2 days off thinking that would get the job done. What a joke!
So far, in 8 hours we have sanded, primed and painted 7 spindles and 1 tall post. There are 348 spindles and 15 tall posts, so that tells you we’re in for a long haul. Somehow we’ll have to pick up the pace. I’m working hard to keep my humor and pleasant attitude. You guys inspire me truly as I think and pray for you. Now we know why it’s been a long time since we’ve tackled a job like this!
I’ll keep you updated on this end and am so happy for you the time is on the downhill slide. Also, so glad Nate is feeling pretty good.
    We love you!
    Love, Nancy

    P.S.
Forgot to tell you how much I wish we had your ipod, Nan, or Doug’s, loaded with your awesome 5000 songs to get us through this project. Our 250 songs just isn’t going to do it!
    Love,
    Nancy

    Nate & Nan,

Glad to hear Nate is kickn’ ass ( or at least digesting it ) in China. What spirit you have to be willing to try such exotic food! I’m also glad your last treatment went better. We are into the busy part of the summer. We’re swathing hay, chopping wheat for silage, fertilizing corn, spraying sugar beets, and irrigating like crazy now that the rain has let up. Take care. Love ya, Donna & Dan

Some bad news today. Just found out that a friend of mine had been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Jim and I went to CSU, then CU med school, he also did a internship in Spokane, then went on to do Orthopaedic training in Minnesota, we both came back to Spokane and have been working together since the early 80s. His prognosis is quarded. He is going down to UCLA to partipate in a research protocol where they will do surgery to remove as much of the tumor as they can, then take those cancer cell, create a vaccine, reinject it, and hopefully his immune system will attack and destroy the remaining tumor cell. The interesting thing is that the neurosurgeon in charge of the program is also Chinese. Jim was very interested in Nate’s story and is going to set up a Blog site as well. Both Jim and Nate are heros in my mind.
    Take Care Scott
