- this is a ‘pouch’ of milk
- this is all milk! I didn’t even see it.
- this is dragon fruit, it reminds us of kiwi except it is white not green
- I told Nate he is beginning to look like Sam the sheep dog, remember those cartoons?
Hello, I hope you all have a peaceful Sunday. Our trip to the country side was scheduled today at 10:30am and we got on the bus with everyone, by the time they loaded the 4 wheelchairs and patients Nate began to feel bad so we did not risk it and got off. The weather today was so hot, 98 degrees F! We will try another time.
Nate and I did venture out later to the market. Did I say that I couldn’t find milk? Well, half of the produce section is milk I just didn’t recognize it. It is in boxes on the floor and there are so many different kinds. A friend named Bill came with us and helped us navigate the store better. We got fresh fruit, milk, bread and some sweet bread we think might be similar to donuts for in the morning. Tomorrow is the last lumbar treatment…thank goodness. He will have 8 days to recover before our travels home. Yippee! I have not started the countdown yet, I will wait maybe till the last treatment on Friday so the time doesn’t go so slow.
It seems like I talk about food a lot, sorry. Our days have slowed down considerably as we have gotten into the treatment. We are planning some trips out the last few days in order to spend the rest of our Yuan.
Sending good thoughts to each of you, Love, Nan & Nate

Speaking of milk— do you know what kind of bees give milk?
Boobies.
Nate, you have to get better soon because if you don’t, you can see that the jokes will just get worse,
Take care Scott

Nan and Nate
Even if you aren’t counting the days yet, we are, only 8 (probably 7 by the time you get this), you’ve almost completed your journey! We have felt your hope, diappiontments, fun, pain, and education though this blog. I don’t presume to really understandall that you have and are going through but the glimpses you have shared daily have been wonderful, well written and honest. Clearly you are special and no matter what happens I have become closer to you as a result. Paradoxiacllay Nancy and I have gained something intangibly good from your experiences. We hold you both close to our hearts and wish you well and God speed home in a week.
We are taking Dad to the Terry Ranch ( Mom and Dad’s 50th Anniversary) for a train ride and dinner today. The Loyd families have rented a train car for the tour of the ranch so we will tag along.
Doug ,Katie, and Megan had dinner with Scott and Rachel last Thursday evening.in San Diego, according to Scott they had a great time.
You may already know all this so I’ll Stop.
Here’s to days that go by really fast. Love Bob

Don’t know why your comment today made me tear up. Maybe because this is almost over and I know how glad you both will be to be on your way home.
We are having 17 people over for Father’s Day a barbecue and pool party. This has really been the first day the pool has been used this summer because the weather has been so bad. Let’s hope we don’t have a thunder storm at 3:00.
Hope the last treatment goes well.

Hi Nan and Nate, have been thinking and praying for you both. I am one of the ladies in the water aerobics class at the Y.
My daughter and I went to Europe several years ago and I can understand your frustration at the super markets. We had to buy bottled water there and I didn’t realize they had carbonated water too. If that wasn’t a SURPRISE when you took your first sip. lol Found out in a hurry how to tell the difference!
On the opposite end of the coin, with the people asking about violence here; when we were in Mexico once; we got teased about if there was still cowboys and Indians here since we had to go such a long ways to get to an International airport.
My sister had an interesting experience about a week or so ago. She came out of church one Sat. evening to open up the car door and see a snake on her steering wheel. It took her totally by surprise of course, and by that time it had slivered elsewhere in the car. She thought about leaving the car set and calling and having someone pick her up; but braved it out and drove out to my house. Well the following day she didn’t see anything of it; but the next day when she was driving she all of a sudden saw it/it’s tail sticking out of her air conditioning vent and it disappeared again. A few minutes later she looked again and it’s head was looking at her. I would have totally had a heart attack by this time. lol It disappeared again. Then one day when she came outside and the sun was shining; she saw the snake was sunning itself on her dash. So she quickly opened the door and found a stick and got it out. Now she is hoping it was a “loner” and didn’t have any relatives with it. lol To date, no more snake sightings. lol
Hoped these stories put a smile on your faces. Take care and God Bless. Linda

Hi Nan and Nate, Sorry you missed out on your trip to the country. I hope you feel better, Nate so you can get out more. It must be very difficult and frustrating for you. But, you will be fit as a fiddle after this last treatment and be able to enjoy the unfamiliar country. No wonder you couldn’t find milk…I would have missed that too. I can’t imaging how strange it all must be. Good Luck!!!! Love, sandy

Hi Nate & Nan,
Fathers day and really hot. Just went out to check my fishing pole and I think it is too hot for the fish too.
Had grandkids over yesterday and it only got up to 71 and I froe but the little ones didn’t care. I guess the water felt warm since it was so cool out side. Its makin up for it today.
So glad you arre at the end and can start your count down. It will be good to see you home.
I have enjoyed all the pics and things you have wrote. Never knew things were so differnent there. But the bedt part is that Nate is dong so good. Some bad days but more good days and soon it will be all good day.
So remember we all care back here and it will be good to see both of you.
Until next time my prayers and thoughts are with you.

Nate & Nan,
Last lumbar treatment, what a welcome phrase to hear!. We pray it goes well with minimal side effects. By following your blog, I feel like I have shared so many of the experiences with you. Thank you, for being so open and honest. Nate’s courage and determination have been so evident in all you have related to us. Anyone who has read your blog can’t help but admire both of you.
We had a fun father’s day Sunday. Dad, Bob&Nancy, Brad, Elissa & family, Jeff, Kendra & Family, Dan’s folks and most of his family all went to the Terry Ranch (south of Cheyenne) for a train ride and lunch on the prairie. We filled an entire train car and had a good time enjoying the food, company, and scenery. I sure hope you and Nate are able to get out this week and enjoy more of the exottic excursions China has to offer. But, getting Nate healthy and ready to return home is the most important. Take care. Love, Donna & Dan
