Treatment #5
June 22nd, 2009
Treatment #5 went well, besides being a long and boring day. Today will forever be my definition of doing nothing…seriously. Nate finished at about 11 am and slept for almost two and a half hours which was great! Because of his experience with headaches, they have left in his iv in case they needed to give him more fluids but besides that he is up and around with no pain which is also great
I don’t even have any good food stories because he has just eaten soup and a pbj. It’s ‘hello kitty’ time for me. ha ha Here is Nate..
Hey everybody, it’s Nate again. This hasn’t been the easiest experience for me but I am sure that in the end it will be worth it. I am counting down the days till I come home. Today was my last experience laying on my back for 6 hours, I am glad that I don’t have to do it again and I am excited to see what will happen, if it helps me get better I will gladly come back and do it all again-I will do what it takes to get better. Thanks for your constant support.
Love from both of us, Nan & Nate

Glad to hear your comments. We think Doug and Megan are coming tonight; they will never leave the same after the wild clan we have here; haha!
Here’s a quote for the day…”There is nothing to do; just being is enough.”
“Contentment is a choice I can make everyday.”
I will teach you some hand yoga moves when you get back. I have a great one for contentment. You could use it while sitting there….:)
Better get on the run for today…. Prayers have been sent you way this a.m. Tracy

Hello to both of you!. I’ve certainly enjoyed reading your notes and seeing your pictures. You have a good knack at writing! I’m so happy to read that Nate is seeing an improvement. I know at times it must be really difficult to see the whole picture of what lies ahead. But keep up your faith ^j^ So many people have wrapped their love around you across so many miles. You won’t have too much longer to wait for those real physical hugs!!! Home is within reach now
You’re strength is amazing. Take care and God bless you ~
Denise

Hi Nate and Nan
We are here at the condo thinking of you both everyday. The weather has been incredible! I look at your photo each morning knowing how strong you are. You love challenges so much this should seem easy compared to skiing and snowboarding with limited vision! Nate you are our hero!
Love to you both

Good morning!
Yesterday there was a garage band concert at the GI Mall parking lot. Laura drove by. Lots of kids and tents and a stage. Island Oasis is in full swing. Today hot hot hot — Blue skies above.
Thinking of you guys. I know home will look pretty darn good!!!

I guess being bored is good. Certainly better than headaches.
Our little Father’s Day gathering was a little crazy. Jeff, our son, got a pain in his chest and couldn’t swallow, not even water. He finally went to the emergency room and he had a piece of steak caught in his esophagus. They had to put him out and put a tube down his throat to get it out. Found out he has ullcers in his esophagus and has to take medicine for 6 weeks and then go to a specialist. He is ok though and back at work today.
Hope your day is uneventful. Love, Jill

Hi Nate and Nan,
Hurrah and congrats for making it through your last lumbar injection! We’re so happy for you, especially if it’s minus the headache.Tthat will be a good way to end.
We did have a really nice day on Father’s Day with Grandpa and all the Loyds. You would have liked the unique train, lunch and relaxing view of the prairie. The cutest part was at the end, all the little kids had a chance to ride on a “miniature train” which had seperate, individual cars pulled by a 4 wheeler, it appreared there was lots of bouncing and fun.
The deck painting project is moving along, I bet we have at least 100 spindels done. We’ve had our “moments” working together, and at times I’ve needed the Hello Kitty cup!
We’re counting down your days for you.
Love,
Nancy & Bob

Nate,
I have watched with great interest your blog telling of your trip to China for stem cell treatment. You are to be commended for your completion of the treatment and we pray that it will be successful.
I have had an interest in stem cell therapy for some time as I had a stroke in 2006 which affected the right side of my body. I have been in contact with X Cell-Center in Cologne, Germany and have been accepted as a patient. Travel plans are on hold at this time.
I will continue to read your blog to follow your progress.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Don Wilson
