Moving on…
June 23rd, 2009
Nate felt so much better today, it was a good day. A small headache started this afternoon but it subsided in an hour or so which is a good sign. We are taking it slow but are ready to move on to better days. I am posting a picture of one of our girls that stops by to practice English. She asked us to help her pick an English name so after suggesting a few;
she has picked ‘Amy’ which I think suits her very well. Have you thought about picking a new name for yourself? It would be kindof fun. We tried to ask them to name us Chinese names but they start out with their family name so we were stuck right away. We sort of got side tracked on that whole explaination so I will have to try again for names. Also I am posting Nate playing basketball with a soccer ball and an upside down stool, pretty funny but it was a slow day so everyone played.
Tonight, Frank is taking us to a traditional Chinese ‘Hot Pot’ . I am so curious to find out what this is, maybe I should eat a pbj first!
And tomorrow, Dr. Hung is going to take us for the best Peking duck in the city so our social schedule has resumed
I wasn’t sure how late we would be out tonight, maybe even as late as 9 pm who knows. We lead a quite life here. Love to all and thanks again for reading and keeping up with us, I don’t know what we would do without this contact! Nan & Nate

Nate, we’re happy for you that your last 6-hour, flat-on-your-back, treatment is over. We look forward to your home-coming and trust that you will be experiencing longed-for improvements as the stem-cell process continues its work in you.
As you undoubtedly know, summer has finally arrived here in Nebraska. Carolyn and I were in Omaha for Father’s Day and attended a live performance of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” in the park near UNO. It was a very warm evening but a fun evening.
We were delighted to hear that one of your doctors was taking you and your mom out for the best Peking Duck in the city! You don’t hear of that very often here in America. You must have really impressed him. We hope you had a great evening.
Peace and love,
Del and Carolyn Roper

Nate,
When I first say your upside down stool ball playing I thought you were practicing yoga. I look forward to reading of your progress and activities. I love the way the Chinese serve food! You have not mentioned the watermelon except the one time, I think it was fried…. It seemed like when I was there we had watermelon after every meal.
Enjoy your night out!
Christy

Nate, that is so cool that you are feeling better!!! I just know this will work for you cuz I have been praying hard.
I’ll be anxious to hear how the dinner went and if you all were out till 9 pm….You partiers you!!! Just be happy you are missing the heat and humidity in NE. I don’t know how bad it gets where you live, but in Lincoln it is soooo miserable that it’s hard to go outside past 8:30 am. it feels like a sauna every time I step out the door to let the dog out. I will be glad to go to SB for my neice’s wedding the weekend of July 4th. Hopefully not so humid. The is tolerable sometimes if it isn’t so humid. Plus, my Dad has a lap pool in the backyard so I’m ready to jump in that. Just won’t be fun for anyone else….me in a swimsuit….not a pretty sight!!!!! Well, I will quit jabbering and let you go, have a good time on the last part of your trip…..feel well enough to enjoy it I hope!!!!! Talk to you both later. Love, Sandy

Hello!
It’s good to hear you’re feeling better Nate! You’re such a strong person going through all this, and that is definitely something to admire.
It seems like you are seeing some amazing things in China. It’s so weird to come home, it’s like, “where are all the people?”
Anyways, wishing you both the best and a safe trip home when that time comes!

Chinese hot pot!!! That sounds great. My mom had some Chinese piano students and they invited her over New Years Eve for Chinese Hot Pot. Take notes. We could try to recreate it without the ambiance. Can’t wait to see pictures and hear stories.
Thinking of both of you.

You two have fun out on the town! That’s so neat that you are feeling up to your outings. Hot Pot does sound interesting. Bob and “Little Scot” would love to share the Peking Duck dinner with you. I’m sure I would too.
I’m waiting for the afternoon shade to hit our back porch so I can do the painting touch ups (mostly the 2nd coat) on that part. The heat is on but not as humid as NE sounds. You would get a kick out of Jetta in this project. She is ALWAYS right where we are painting and of course walks on the drop cloths and tracks paint on her paws, all over the deck. That sent me into a tizzy until the Home Depot paint expert told me to buy Krud Kutter. Thank goodness it works!!
Can you see Mo doing the same if he were here?
We love you and hope you have a good time.
Love,
Nancy & Bob

Nate & Nan,
After so many years of drought conditions we are getting rain! As we were going to bed last night, the thunder and lightning started and we got 1.2 inches of rain. About 3 pm this afternoon it started raining again and we got another 1.2 inche with hail. My yard and garden took a hit and so did several of our fields, but it’s early enough in the season the crops should grow out of it. We told ourselves that we wouldn’tcomplain if it started raining again, but when your faced with hail damage it’s hard not to whine about it.
What encouraging news that Nate is starting to feel better. I hope and pray his health continues to improve before your flight home. Enjoy the Peking duck and Chinese hot pot.
Love, Donna & Dan
