Treatment #6

June 26th, 2009

Boy, it seems like I have been waiting a long time to write that!!!  It was a good day, uneventful and quiet.  It was spring cleaning on the floor and they washed windows so of course we are having a thunder storm tonight.  Funny how that always works out.  Nate is feeling good, I can always tell because he starts to get smart..ya know-anxious to get home too.  We were able to plan our trip to Bejing and will be staying downtown close to the Forbidden City and Tian’an Men Square so we can be tourists our last days, how exciting!  I just hope the headaches stay away, today was free most of the day so that’s encouraging.

When we get home, you may be wondering what to do or say.   We have had quite a blow so we understand that it is difficult to know how to react.  Just remember, we are the same friends you had before and we plan to always be.  We are approaching this with a positive attitude and we will always appreciate your concern, comments, support or advise.  Never hesitate to say hi or just talk,  be at ease.  Thanks again for everything and especially for caring about Nate & helping him feel supported and strong through this.  Love, Nan & Natetrip-to-china-0106

Sounds like things are going well. Your restaurant experiences sound very interesting and you both are so intrepid to try all of the things offered! We are thinking of you both and wish you a safe journey home. Enjoy your stay in Beijing – how exciting!

Nan & Nate, Mary and I have been following all of the blogs up to now.  I felt it was time for us to respond in some manner.  Ever since we heard that you were going to China for this treatment we have been praying constantly for all of you and especially you Nate.  In our church along with prayer it is symbolic to have a candle burning representing our offering for a specific intention.  We have had a candle burning in church everyday since the day you left and it will continue to burn until you return.  It sounds like it has been quite an ordeal and quite an adventure.  We will continue to pray for you all until God answers our prayers in a positive way.
All of our Love & Prayers Rick & Mary Harbaugh

Hey Nate, this is Aaron again sorry I haven’t got back to you it’s been so busy. We are the family from Alliance ne. We wanted to go to hangzhou and just found out we can’t becuse of swine flu so we to are going to Qingdao. Braden is 6 years old and in a wheel chair so if you have any good tips on things to do it would be very helpful. How are you feeling? Do the treatments seem to be helping? I have been reading your blogs and it seems you have a lot of head aches. Just wandering if it was from the treatment.

    Happy travels Nate and Nan!
We are so glad for you that treatments are over and hopefully most headaches. I bet it’s a Mother’s delight, Nan, to have Nate feeling good enough to be a bit ornery and mischievous! You two have done a splendid job of sharing your experiences and we are so grateful to you for that.
We’re still painting, until the daily thunderstorms pop up!
Have a great time in Bejing, can’t wait to hear about that.
    Love,
    Nancy & Bob

Yeah, the time there is winding down! I hope you can enjoy your last few days there as regular tourists, and leave the headaches and other not-so-good feelings behind. I have continued to read your blog every day, and you continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Stop down in the Nursery at church sometime after you get back, so that we can see you in person. Sometimes it’s hard to get away from there on Sunday mornings to go visit with people. We still remember when you came down to the Nursery to help with the little ones in our care, Nate, and you were so good with the little children! They absolutely adored you! We’ve watched you grow up since then, but never really get much time to visit with either of you, etc. It will be nice to see you back home again. But in the meantime enjoy your remaining time there, and have save travels back to the States!

    Grace and Peace,

    Deb

    Nate & Nan,

Nate’s smile said it all in the last picture you sent of his last treatment. Nate’s courage and strength of character have been so evident throughout the treatments. We are proud of you Nate and impressed with the way you have handled all aspects of your treatment.

Enjoy Bejing and all it has to offer, you both have earned it!

I took Grandpa to another Dr.’s appointment yesterday. He had a good checkup. His bloodpressure is fine, his bloodwork looked good, and the heart medication is helping. His neighbor, Marie Avers, is printing off your blog each day and giving it to Granpa. He sends his love and is so glad to hear about your progress.

Alex and Andrew came home with me and spent the night. We had another great day finding mud puddles to splash through on the four wheelers. We even waded into one to try and catch some tadpoles. We needed Nate’s help on the tadpole catching. Take care. Love, Donna & Dan

Hello you two, sounds like you are going soooo much better Nate!!!! I’m excited to see that in your reports!! Hope you are able to enjoy the last part of the “adventure”. You just keep up the good work in keeping those headaches away so you can see as much as possible. I know I don’t know you Nate, but I am so excited to hear your doing better… and just think what you are doing for the medicine…the more people that can get helped by this, maybe our country will “see the light” and realize just drugs are not the answer to everything!!!!!! Will be waiting to hear more, and all you get to see. Talk to you later, Love, Sandy

    Dear Nate & Nanette,

We just got back from a two week trip to Ohio to see our family & attend a couple of weddings (not my favorite pastime). Sadly, when we got home we had to put Hunter, our golden retriever to sleep. We loved him very much. But, happily, that means you can give Mo to me now :-) I have read a few of your entries, but when are you coming home? Our good friends visited some missionaries in China & had a wonderful time. I hope you are able to enjoy your last few days as tourist.

Life here has been interesting but we don’t see our daughter much. Michelle is gone most of the time, now that she has wheels. I suppose that this is preparing us for the day that she will go off to college.

When you guys get back we would love to have you over so that you can tell us about the whole experience.

    Love,

    Mike Toukan
