Saying goodbye

Yesterday and today have been full of visits in the hallway and exchanging of addresses. Each patient here is addressing their own issues yet we have found strength in sharing this part of our journey together – a side benefit from stem cell therapy in China you could say. The people from Alabama along with the mother and son from Egypt will share our van tomorrow, though they are each leaving to go directly to the airport. Also, our guide Frank is leaving China to move to Australia to begin his own massage business, how exciting for he and his wife. Today we went to the ‘curiosity shop’ which was really just a market of all things Chinese. We didn’t get to stay too long because it was so hot but we were treated to the preparation and service of Chinese tea. The owners wanted me to pay them with American dollars so through our guide we came up with a fair price, unfortunately that leaves me with $3 to come home with. I am sure I can exchange Yuan for Dollars at the airport.
Nathan is feeling good today, only a slight headache when we were on our way home from shopping., probably the crazy taxi ride. I would never try to drive in China. After he laid flat for a while, it went away..we will have to be careful while we are sight seeing. Well, take care and I will write more from Bejing! Love, Nan & Nate

We are glad to hear you are rounding the corner and soon to be home. Tom had taken the computer to his regional meeting, so I have missed your blog. I have continued to pray often and you are in our thoughts. My best quote would be “Peace starts with a smile.” It sounds like you are doing a lot of smiling with all of the people you are meeting
Next quote will be “home sweet home.” Lots of love, Tracy Noble

Hi Nan and Nate
“Leaving is such sweet sorrow” I’m not sure who the quote is credited to but my guess is that is close to what you are feeling. Leaving your new found (not so new now) friends and fellow patients must be hard but I can only imagine that the thought of finally getting to go back home is a great comfort. I for one will miss your wonderful blog but on the other hand am looking forward to your return. Your ability to adjust to the unknown trials and tribulations in a very foreign land and culture is an inspiration to me. I am very proud to have you both as a part of my family.
Enjoy Beijing and have a safe trip home.
Love Bob

Hi Nate & Nan,
Dan & I just returned from a short weekend trip to look at cattle we have on pasture outside of Laramie, Wy. After reassuring ourselves that the cattle were doing well, we drove on to Saratoga, Wy. where we played a round of golf and enjoyed an excellent steak dinner at an old historic hotel, and spent the night. Today, we drove home via Walden and Poudre Canyon. We stopped in Eaton and Jeff took us out to his new place of employment east of Greeley. We really enjoyed seeing the feedlot facility where Jeff is working. It’s so good to see Jeff happy and excited about going to work. After our short trip, it is good to be home. I can’t imagine how happy you two will be to return home. Your last few days should go quickly because there is so much to see. Enjoy and have a safe trip home.
Love, Donna & Dan

Hey Nate & Nannette
I just got back from Arkansas yesterday. I was on a 10 day trip. We hung out and relaxed on a huge lake the whole time. The vacation was full of swimming, cliff jumping, tubing, boating, fishing, and great eating. The land was beautiful. Lots of trees and mountains. I took over two hundred pictures. When you get home i will have to show you them. One thing that we saw that was really interesting was a man who was building a house on the lake. This house was shaped in the form of a castle. Its walls were completly made out of concrete. Though it was not finished yet it was still a great site to see. It had a gorgeous view of the lake.
Sincerely,
Dan
