News story links
July 12th, 2009
Home now for 9 days, the local news wanted to follow up with Nate. They did a nice job, we certainly appreciate their interest and support of our family. Here are the links if you would like to watch them. We are thankful for stem cell therapy and research. Our hope is that the therapy will continue to improve as more people learn about it and understand the potential.

The news stories are good. I am so glad the treatment seems to have led to some improvement. I hope Nate can have some time to be a “regular teenager” in these next few weeks before starting his Senior year at Northwest. (I can’t believe you’re already going to be a Senior, Nate!) I am praying that the symptoms will continue to improve and that you can all enjoy some more relaxing times now that you know what you’re facing and are doing the things that need to be done to hopefully stabilize this condition. I also keep praying for inner strength and peace of mind for each and every one of you in your family. God is in control. God is good. God has a plan and in time it will all make perfect sense………
Grace and Peace,
Deb

Hello there.
My name is James (Jim) Reeder and we just had an overnight visit with a class mate’s of Nate’s (Jarrod) who filled us in on Nates situation W/ataxia. After listening to the circumstances and the progression of the symptoms,I started thinking
(outside of the diagnostic box). I was informed that Nate was a good wrestler in highschool when these symptoms started to occur. Then the visual and ataxia started to creep into the picture.
I deal with alot of whiplash and neck injuries and these closely resemble(VAS) vertebral artery syndrome which is an injury that can covertly develope because the ossification of the spinal structures in adolecence and teenagers is not complete and can (under the right circumstances) cause a vertebra to misalign and compress, not only a nerve, the artery as well. With the artery compressed it can gradually decrease the flow to a part of the brain and allow symptoms to develope. You can GOOGLE the VAS and see the comparison the the cuerrent symptoms. If you would like to see a Neurologist in California the person I would like to reccommend to you is
Dr. Scott Halderman DC. MD. PHD. Altho. He is very familiar with these conditions and more probably than not be a good source of help. I hope this information helps in your search for healing. This could also be a result of an undetected closed head injury, secondary to a sports injury. Consider the wrenching of the neck in a highly competitive wrestling match.
You can also see substantial information on the CDC web site for the suttle symptoms of the closed head injuries.
I hopr this helps.
