Hi from China

Hi Everyone,

I just spoke to Lorne, Brad and Steph at the hospital. Their internet has been down for the past couple of days and won’t be back up until at least Tuesday. Once it is up we will once again hear from Lorne Suchan reporter Extraordinaire!! Everyone is doing good, still not enjoying the food to much. Brad said it is CRAP!! Steph strongly agreed. Brad goes in for his second treatment at 4pm local time Friday. After his treatment he will again have to lay still for six hours, if you move to much you will get terrible headaches. Brad said he goes for accupunture every day and the needle are hooked up to electrodes so it can be painful but he said he is getting used to it now. He also goes for physiotherapy twice a day for 45 minutes. Anyway’s that the news from China and they said to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. I’ll be speaking to Steph in the next couple of days so if their internet is down we’ll keep you posted.

Cheers,

Lisa (Brad’s cousin in Calgary)

what am i doing up

it is 5:30 a.m. & I’m up I stayed in the hospital alone as Brad went with Steph to the hotel for the night as wed. is a holiday for him ..yesterday they hung out together & I & another caregiver went walking the streets…we are in the suburbs ..& they have a strip where no cars are allowed where people walk & shop… with various vendors on the side walk ..this is about ten blocks long so you can imagine what it is like downtown or in larger cities ..anyway shopping was like trying to get out of a rider or flames game wall to wall people..have to be very very patient…very difficult for the people in wheeelchairs as no place is accessible ..have to bargain for everything ..only place u dont is the american / euopean store where they have cash registers .therefore no bargaining …bargaining becomes an art every time u walk away they give u the price u want ….no taxes here & no receipts…..tough to declare …

had another couple come in from Australia last night ..one leaves & the next one comes ..there is ten beds here for stem cells …always full …a revolving door ..

most of us today who can are going to the zoo ..where I here they have one panda & a lot of tigers will let u know & after that we are going to a street where they sell just the latest electronics

..someone went yesterday & said there was a hundred stores should be interesting …maybe i will get an i-pod or mp3 player …like i know how to work one…

well I smell bacon cooking ya right so bye for now

lorne…. have a nice day & thx for your support & replies it is nice hearing from you

Hello from Calgary

Just checking to make sure this message gets on to your Blog so it will be short. Sounds like things are good in China and you are managing quite nicely. Hopefully, Brad’s treatment is progressing well. Golf is almost over here and curling started yesteday, got our 1st W. Getting ready for the NHL season which starts this Wednesday. Scott, Eric and Stephen have started their hockey so we will be spending a lot of time in rinks again. Not doing very good in our NFL pool so maybe you could study Sunday picks and post, can’t be any worse then ours. I’ll sign off now and keep up the spirit. Ray

monday oct 1st

found out what wed is …a big holiday like our 1st of july call it national day in 1949 they must have gained their independance ..that is when we go to the zoo ..& u can come 222

went to the wholesale mart have these nice marble floors & as we are walking around this guy upchucks a bit.. hoarks ..& just let his spit fly right in front of us ..this is not uncommon even the women do it ..with all the pollution you have to clear your throat said God bless u & he said thanz sou ….

had a good walk about & saw a lot of different departments.. saw one in particular womens underwear aint no.. victoria secrets ..most was flannel / quilted longjohns ..I assume because the heat is like the hot water… None… a lot of them had extra pads on the knees …wonder what that is for I guess Praying …any u guys want a pair for your women….

had another mystery wrap Brad had one bite & thru it away I managed to eat mine all ..not bad ….

of all the people here Brad is the only one that is capable of walking.. all the others are in wheel chairs…so is a lot easier for him to get around the city & at least do a few things ..some never get out of the hospital ….everyone very friendly & all speak english..that is the patients for the stem cell treatments..well another day done so bye for now

sunday holy day of obligation

because wed is a big holiday here everyone worked this sunday Brad was feeling a lot better & all headaches were gone …had to go to all his therapy & accupunture…Accupunture is on the second floor with hundred of people walking around with needles in there head ..Brad lays on on a bed & they put 2 in the back of his head 2 in his shoulders 2 in his lower back 2 ins butt cheeks & 2 in his thighs them they hook him up to a machine & crank it up he just about goes thru the roof …While I get a kick out of it …no pain no gain…he doesnt appreciate my chuckles….

in the afternoon while the riders were kicking Montreals ass we went to what is called the warehous this is five floors ..with each floor the size of a cosco & across the way there is another building the same size ..it is one huge flea market …1st floor all luggage ,handbags ..leather accessories ..second floor all bedding 5th floor all watches & belts U never seen so many …has to be over a million watches ..All knock off Cartier Rolex etc. Brad bought 3 rolexes for 280-yaun about 40 dollars .. .we will be going back there to shop again …this girl we went with bought fourteen watches & 23 belts …when we got outside we had to wait for a taxi ..on the street were food vendors ..these were people on a bike with a platform on the front which held the food & a hot plate/burner ..one made : she would fry 4 eggs like a omlette then unwrap what looked like a weiner & sauteed some weird vegetables wrapped them up in the egg & that is what u got …didnt taste all that bad ….2nd one had three things on 3 skewers. one looked like worms .one looked liked a large spider & the other looked like large bug ..these we didnt try but everyone was buying them ..Brad took a picture ….3rd one was choi qui la chien wouin — this I will tell U at the end what it is….

Average farmer here gets 1200 Yaun / year that is about 300 -dollars & I guess they dont bitch enough here.. one of the local high executives took a bribe from a foriegn company & was found guilty ..penalty death.. doesnt pay to bitch….

guess everyone is back on the band wagon now the riders won hey Randy…Home playoff game here we come… keep the faith..

writing this mornig at 6.a.m. very polluted out ..we are on the 10th floor & cant see the tall city buildings leaves a odor that nobody should have to smell ..across the river people are exercising they do this every morning .. something like a martial arts ….

well that all for now so talk 2 you soon

oh getting back to the third cart …u know what it was selling

shit on a stick………………. now u know the rest of the story bye & keep writing

Brad & Lorne

Hope your doing okay after your first treatment Brad. Riders won today against Montreal. Tomchuk likes the extra room so I don’t think he’s missing you yet. Take care Gord & Carolle P.
