1 Week Down

October 10th, 2008

Hi everyone,

Yesterday (thurs) went really well with OT & PT.  He got to stand up in a machine today and play catch with Owen, his therapist, he loved that.  I can’t imagine what that must have been like for him.  He’s never stood up and played ball before.  He told me that he felt stronger today, and I watched him walk around the bed holding on.  The bed’s are really low to the ground here so that made it easier and it was like when a baby first starts to pull himself up to the couch and sidesteps along it.  But I haven’t seen him do that in a long time.  So today was an awesome day for him.  When he was having his IV Treatment on Wed.  he asked the nurses to please hurry up so he could walk down the stairs.  The IV room is upstairs so he wanted to walk right out of the room and down the stairs.  It was kind of cute, yet sad.  But he understands he’s just very hopefull like we are.  I think his first Spinal will be on Mon.  from what the nurse’s were saying.  We will have a free weekend, we have some plans to do some sightseeing.  Talk to you soon.

Sharon

    hey guys,
julie called me on thursday and said you guys were there and it was going pretty good. ron emailed me the blog webpage and main webpage. i got on as soon as i got the email. i was reading all of brandons blog and was bawling like a baby. it just hits so close to home. even tho we dont see each very often and i have never had the chance to meet brandon and he has no idea who i am, please tell him he and all of you are in my prayers, and i think about you all all the time. that is very exciting news that is walking already. julie also said that there was a child there with battens disease. do you know much about that child like what type he/she has or how old they are or how advanced the disease was for them or if its working for them. any glimmer of hope helps these days. taylor is like a prisoner in our home these days, we live in a hundred year old house that is not equipped for him at all he is pretty much limited to 3 rooms in the house since he cant walk… the kitchen living room where he has to sleep because his room is upstairs and he cant do steps and its getting harder and harder for us to carry him up there everynight plus we dont have heat or air conditioning upstairs there is no duct work, and the bathroom which is a struggle for him too. we are trying to find another house but not a lot of options aroiund here that we can afford especially with the medical bills. but were are trying and we try to find the good in everyday. taylor is a happy 5 year old who loves books and loves to smile. he is to the point where he is very hard to understand his words and he only uses about 10 words, he cant tell us if something is bothering him or if he needs something, its just a guessing game. well i hope all continues to go well for you in china and after you return home. please keep me updated. hugs and kisses and tell brandon that god is with him and is working on his miracle. and i want to meet him as soon as i can, him and taylor would have fun playing together. love you all and keep you heads up, it will all work out.
