TGIF!!

May 2nd, 2008

Happy Friday everyone!  We have nearly completed our 3rd week here, and we are getting the going home itch!  Our friday was a bit uneventful, but you know me, I can always find something to talk about!

We made our official decision this morning that we are NOT big fans of May Day celebrations!  It started last night about 10 pm, just after we got our youngest beloved to sleep and were starting to fall asleep ourselves.  They had a HUGE fireworks display right outside our balcony.  On any other day, we would have loved it.  It was really a beautiful display, however, Miss Brylie had not been so beautiful yesterday, and the fireworks woke her up!  Thankfully, after a little rustle, she was back asleep in no time!!  Here’s the best part- 5 a.m. rolls around, and guess what is going on in the park- a fireworks display!!!  Who in the heck watches fireworks at 5 a.m.?  My eyes don’t even open that early, let alone focus enough to watch bright flashing lights!!!  Needless to say, the kids’ day started very early this morning!  Only in China!!  They are very much a celebrating culture.

Brayden did a little better today in PT.  He was awesome at accupuncture.  He laughed so hard the whole time. Not sure why he likes that so much…  One tough kid!  Jason and I were figuring it up, and he will have been stuck atleast 290 times with a needle by the time we come home- more than most have to endure in their entire lives.  Since Brayden was in such a great mood, we decided to walk to the RT Mart to pick up a few things.  The streets were very busy, and I can’t even explain the crowds at the RT.  Oh my goodness, we were like speed demons just trying to find what we needed and get the heck out of there!!  However, one of the most amazing things happened when we were checking out.  The nice anesthesiologist- that I was telling you about Wednesday- came up and rubbed Brayden’s arm and said hello to us.  I figured she would go about her merry way after that.  Instead, she hands the cashier a card- similar to a Ron’s or Dillons card that gives you discounts on certain things- and tells her to let us use it!  Then she motioned for Brylie and I to go stand out of the way, and she helped bag our groceries and load them in a cart.  Then she proceeds to push the cart outside to help us get a taxi.  When we told her that we were walking, she loaded the groceries into Brylie’s stroller, gave us a nice smile, and walked away.  We could not believe it!   This lady had only met us one time, and she treated us with such kindness!  Again, pretty sure that would never happen at home!!

We have quite a day planned tomorrow.  Giovanni and Elvia- the AustItalian’s- invited us to go on an outing with them to see the city.  We are also maybe going on a boat ride to see the coast.  Not really sure!  Giovanni is one that you just knod and don’t ask questions!  They may be wishing they hadn’t invited us along after a full day of the Johnson clan!  You know, we aren’t the quietest bunch around!  Even still, we are very excited about going, as they always have great stories to tell us and great finds to share.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend- storm free!!  I’m sure we will have great stories to tell after our big adventures tomorrow, so stay tuned!!  We love you and miss you all so much!

Good Morning! Sounds like Brayden is being his tough little self. That is awesome! The May Day celebration sounds quite interesting, to say the least. Kansas has been pretty boring other than a few storms lastnight! Hope you all enjoy your trip out today! God Bless and love you all!

    Love, Brandy

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Again enjoyed the pictures you sent a few days ago, sounds like you had a pretty adventurous day, but so exciting to think Brayden may have enjoyed some of the sights also. That fireworks thing is crazy, but I know the fireworks we buy around here comes from China. Your blogs continue to be great Lorie, It is the first thing I do in the morning while I am drinking my coffee. Keep up the good work nd you’ll be home soon, hope you a had a good day, maybe you found some coach purses. Love to all, Bonnie

Hello! From the other – not so quiet Johnson Clan!

I hope all is well and you have a wonderful day out and about. We will be playing softball all weekend in windy, 60 degree weather, so we will be thinking about you out on the boat. Hopefully the weather is nicer there! Kick back and enjoy your day! We look forward to hearing about your outing.

Your Kansas friends and family continue to pray for you!

Hugs and Kisses from us to you!

I glad Brayden enjoys his accupuncture. Will you continue it after you get home? Aunt Barb is talking about having it done on her legs and Janice told me there is a doctor in Columbus that does it.
Sorry to hear Miss Brylie was being a grump. I’m sure she is confused by the whole process of whats going on so she deserves a gold medal and all the attention she is getting from the hospital staff and the locals.
Can’t wait to hear about your adventures, so until tomorrow more Love and Prayers
    12 days and counting

I think we both know what would happen if freakin’ fireworks woke me up at 5 stinkin’ AM!! I would be banned from China! Oh, yeah, and if they think you are chubby–they’d think I was the HUGE marshmallow man from GhostBusters! HA!
Enjoy your outing! I’m sure you’ll blend in as well as you have so
    far . . .HA HA!

    Love and Miss you~

    Lorie, Jason, Brayden, and Brylie,

So glad to hear that Brayden is doing so well with his trearments and actually thinks the accupuncture is funny. This must make you guys feel a whole lot better. As for the fireworks, I don’t even care for them on the 4th of July, let alone at 5:00 a.m. in May. Not long now before you all will be back in the states and China will be a great and rewarding memory. Hang in there Brayden. Love ya all,-Ila
