More news!
May 6th, 2008
Hello again! We have some new news to share! Brayden looked right at the light pen and tracked it consistently this morning for the doctors! Starting Monday night, he all of the sudden started sitting up very straight, almost no bending over to the right side. We kind of dismissed it at first, but you can really notice it today. His eating and oral motor control is sooo much better! For those of you who had the joy of eating with us, you know first hand that any meal took us atleast an hour to get through! Now, we can’t get the food in his mouth fast enough! Unfortunately, people who don’t really know Brayden may not see all of these wonderful improvements, but for those of you that know him well, I think you will be amazed at the progress!
Other than that, our day was therapy as usual. We did go to the bank to exchange money. This is the first time that the kids and I got to go along, and I must say it was quite enlightening! I decided to wait outside for Jason bc there were like 20 steps up to the bank. We were just sitting there minding our own business, eating gummy bears, and all of the sudden there were literally 20+ guys just sitting around me and the kids. Not really staring, but not totally minding their own business either. At first it was a bit scary, but they all kind of started trying to talk to the kids and that made me feel a little better. While we were sitting there, I got an opportunity to just kind of take in the surroundings. Something that really stuck out to me is that most all of the women over here wear high heels all of the time! It makes my feet hurt just thinking about it. I can barely walk to the other side of my bedroom in heels! These women literally walk across town everyday wearing them! Also, it is very funny to watch and listen to the movement of traffic. I know I have stated that they drive very crazy, but it is seriously no different in parking lots. There are horns honking CONSTANTLY because there is usually one way in, which also happens to be the same way out! The problem with this is that they tend park wherever they can find a space- even if that means right in the middle of the entrance. Seriously, I sat and watched a man sit in his car and continuously honk at a 3 wheel bike that was sitting in the way WITH NO ONE ON IT!! Like what did he think- the bike was gonna start itself up and get out of his way!! Also, car seats do not exist. Kids are just climbing around the car, crazy driving and all!! Mom, Dad, and baby all ride on the motorcycles and mopeds together. The mom rides on the back and the kids in the front as they zip down the street pretty quickly! Young girls ride side-saddle all the time at every speed, and they do it while talking on their cell phones!! Very brave!! And to think we get in trouble for riding a four-wheeler in town! Heck, this place has 3 million plus people, and I have yet to see a speed limit sign! Kind of makes us seem a little petty at home for thinking we actually need two stop lights!
We got brave and decided to try out the potatoes from the RT Mart, so we are treating ourselves to microwaved baked taters with cheese and butter! Can’t really go wrong there! Hope you all have a great Tuesday!! Love and miss you all so much!

This is great news about Brayden’s progress, you guys as parents have made such a special effort to make Brayden a better life, and seeing the improvement makes it all worth it. About those flowers, it is probably a good thing we can’t purchase something that nice for the money here, our loving husbands would drink that extra 6-pack with his buddies if he could hide behind a bouquet like that when he walked in the door hours late.ha!ha! Again taking time to write these blogs has kept us all so much in touch, you have hundreds of people reading these and keeping you guys in there prayers. Mark touched upon it in church Sunday and it was amazing how many people have been reading these, and talking about Braydens progress, even if they don’t write a comment. One more weekend, and then a few days later you will be home eating real steak and drinking real beer. Keep the faith, we are all praying for you. Love to all, Bonnie

I am so happy at how great Brayden is doing. But like I have said before Brayden is a fighter and we all knew he wouldn’t do less than amazing! Hope everyone is breathing a little easier now that the yucky parts are over. Things will only continue to get better.
Love and Miss you~

That is awesome. I hope that he keeps improving. I wish that there was treatments here in the US so you wouldn’t have to travel so far. I am really glad that it is working. Abby

That is wonderful news! Before you know you’ll be back! I check your blog everyday. II’s getting addicting. I can’t wait to get to work and check it. I love your stories about the adventures. I could share some real good stories from our office. Were you able to make contact with the Hale’s? I hope so. I didn’t realize stem cells could help in so many areas. It’s wonderful! Rainy day in Kansas today, more rain tomorrow. If I don’t get a chance to write before this weekend, Have a Happy Mothers Day!
Love to all,
Lisa

Praise God for Brayden’s progress. I’m sure you are jumping for joy. I know it fills my heart with joy and my eyes with tears. We can only pray for more and more progress.
Can’t wait until the 16th to hug and love on everyone of you.
Brayden, cousin Tyler is at my house today. I ask him if he wanted to send you a message, he said yes so I ask him wanted he wanted to say. He says “Tell him I love him, and to hurry and come home so I can see him”

He says, “I want you (Brayden) to come to Grandma Susie’s when I’m here so you can help me play with my new train”

Excellent news! The trip has been well worth it ~ not to mention a great history lesson. I feel like I learned something new about the Chinese Culture everytime I read your blog.
The count down is on, you will be walking on Kansas soil soon. Hang in there…I told you good things happen to good people and you two are living proof.
Hugs and kisses from us to you!
