Day after first treatment
May 19th, 2007
It is just after noon here in Xiaosan. Brooklyn tried some therapy this morning but got tired very quickly. She has been sleeping for almost two hours – guess all of that stuff wears you out!!! She did great! She slept through the night and was very much herself this morning – lauren and I even heard her say “all done” – at least that is what is sounded like and she said it three times. I don’t think it was a case of wishful mommy thinking. We will going on some excursions tomorrow. The staff here has been great and they are very friendly – we are learning chinese and english from each other. Lauren leaves on Monday to go back to Shanghai and will return to the states on Wednesday, I am so glad I have such a great friend that would make this journey with me. I am sad she is leaving but have met several wonderful people here that i am hoping to “hang out” with.
One of the other patients here also had his first treatment yesterday and he said he can already tell a difference. i will be keeping on eye on Brooke to see if I notice anything. If you ever get a chance to visit china – i highly recommend it. It has been an experience so far and the shopping over here is crazy!!!!!
Brooklyn is scheduled for her next treatment next Wednesday. I will you all updated on her progress..
Thank you so much for all of you support and prayers – I can’t thank all of you enough.
Love – Heather

Glad to hear Brooke is doing well. I’m sure you’ll miss Lauren when she has to leave. We’re so glad that she went to so you weren’t all alone. It won’t be too long when Syd & Scott get there and I’m sure they’ll both be happy to see you & Brooke. The cement guys showed up a 7:15 AM today to get the walk done. They expect to pour today. They’re at least a day ahead of schedule. Had to start taking my eye drops today in preparation for Tuesday’s surgery. I fully expect all go well. I can’t see worth a damn anymore so I’m looking forward to getting it done. Will keep in touch.

I’ve been thinking about you two and I’m so glad everything is going well. Sending positive vibes your way! Got to play Old Maid with Sydney and Fish on Mother’s Day. Guess who was the Old Maid-Pat! So glad Brooklyn is adjusting-she looked lost in the pictures in the tub, how is the food there? Pat sent me all this info on the website. Take Care and don’t spend all your money in China!
Love,
Aunt Sue

Hello Heather,
I am so glad that things seem to be going well. Brooklyn is a very brave and special little girl. I went thru my graduation this past weekend. It was a wonderful experience, I can’t believe that I am almost done. I laughed til I cried when Lauren told me that she had to buy new luggage just to get home. At least you got to have some fun before the work began. I am very proud of the two of you and my thoughts and prayers are with Brooklyn, you and the rest of your family. I am sure this is very difficult, but the rewards should be great.

Heather,
I’ve been having computer troubles and not much time on my hands, I’m so sorry I haven’t been able to be in touch. I have been praying for you and all my church friends have been keeping me posted from your blog. Sounds like China has been a pleasant surprise and I’m so glad since I was worried about you being so far from home. I keep praying for God’s protection and guidance for all of you.
Quick update here, we have an offer on the house and should be moved by June 15th! It is absolutely amazing how all of this has fallen into place, God is Good!
I’m sorry pictures didn’t work out before you left, I will find a way to do them soon!
Love to you and Brooke!

Since we normally talk more than once a day, there is not much to update you on. I can’t believe it has been 2 weeks. In 5 days Syd and I will be on the plane. I hope Brooke is feeling better today, your Tuesday. Almost done packing for Syd. I think her clothes for 2 weeks will fit in an overnight bag. Mine on the other hand, a different story. Gotta go, need to pay the bills. After I saw the number of withdrawls from the ATM you made for shopping I think I will need to get a 2nd job. Hang in there, in just over a week I will be there to help and you can go visit your other daughter who misses you. I miss you too. Love, Me
