Carl and Paul are getting tired of the food!
January 14th, 2008
Carl just had his 4th stem cell injection and is doing great! He has had 3 spinal and 1 IV stem cell injection. He said he can visualize a bigger area of light now when the sun is coming up…he still cannot see anything but he has light perception which is more than he did have. He is not enjoying the acupuncture (he wants to strangle the tech-see below) but we all think it is helping him. They have been trying to find the McDonald’s but not sure they were ever able to locate it (Paul must really be desperate if he wants to eat there)! They said they did get some sweet and sour pork that was not too bad but it did not have the sweet sauce on it. They are meeting lots of friends there from all over the world that are there with their children mainly. (Click on the picture for a larger image).

:Hello Carl and Paul,
I have to laugh when I read about how awful the food is there. Last week one day in this nursing home, I was served a dinner plate with some mushy zucchini and some kind of mystery meat. There was nothing else on my tray but two empty cups. One day for breakfast I had a sausage patty and a slice of toast and a tiny little glass of OJ. Today they gave me a salad with no salad dressing and something that they called lasagna, but it looked like slop to feed to the pigs. Most of the meals here are just pathetic. Occasionally, I get something that is tolerable. It is funny though, because after awhile, even slop looks pretty good. I am trying to make the best of it and my wonderful husband does supplement me with other things, so I am doing OK. I feel for you and hope you can find that McDonald’s soon. Once there, you will feel like you are eating at the world’s finest restaurant.
It sounds like the treatments have done you some good. Seeing light as you are is amazing. Maybe someday soon you will start to see shadows of things in that light. I’m sure you feel like your treatments are not working fast enough, just as I do, but we must be patient and stay strong. We both have families that are waiting for us to come home. We must consider that these situations are just as difficult for them as it is for us. They are suffering too. Keep your chin up, think happy thoughts and most of all keep the faith that the Lord loves us and is always with us. Remember too, that He often works in strange ways.
Your friend in Christ,
Eileen Carney

Hi Carl,
Well it was great to hear of the improvement so far and I am living each moment for you. I am sure it is going to take some time to know of the real affect of the treatment and I suppose patience is the only way.
I see Paul has changed his mood message on Skype and it brought a smile to my face as it looks as if ye two guys have a good sense of humour! Yes I would say the food could be a bit adventurous to say the least!
Well Carl I do hope all goes good for you and just know that I am with you all the way. Please keep your blog up to date as I am following it with great interest.
Best wishes to you and all your family,
Loretta from Ireland.

Carl – take it easy on the acupunture guy! I am sure he is having a good time. You wouldn’t want to spoil his fun. We can’t wait until you get back to hear all the stories. We love the blog updates. I think Vickie Goin and I are wearing out the site checking for updates. We are praying for you daily and sharing your story with others. God’s people are praying for you all over.
Keep the faith – See you soon.
Kim
