Day After 1st Spinal
February 26th, 2008
Hello,
Well we survived!!!! The procedure itself went well. Devin left his room at 2:30 and he was back in his room at 3:15 wide awake. I was hoping he would have still been a little sleepy but not a chance. They only sedate him long enough for the procedure therefore it made the 6 hours very challenging to say the least but we made it through.
Today his spirits were good and no side effects so that was great except at therapy he really didn’t want to work to hard and seemed a little tired. But then again being in the therapy room today you needed a calgon moment. Image being in a room where there was a little Romania girl who had a good set of lungs on here (screaming the whole session), the mother yelling at her in Romania, the Chinese speaking Chinese and then us speaking English. No wonder why Devin went into lock down. I was about ready to scream myself!!!! So after therapy he did take a 1 hour nap and then he had his electrical wave therapy and then we went outside for a walk for about an hour. It was a little chilly and windy today we lost our 60′s weather:(
Well, that’s all I have to report today. I wish I had some news to give you however, with Devin’s condition it will take up to 2 weeks to 2 months before we see change and we will be home by then.
I sure hope all that snow gets out of its system before we get home.
Thanks for all the prayers and comments. Devin gets a kick out of me reading them to him.
Have fun in the snow:)
Kim & Devin

Good morning Kim and Devin (or is it night time) – I am never sure. DEVIN – you did a great job it sounds like and so did you KIM – I prayed really hard that things would go easy for both of you (as easy as it could be:). We had another 4 – 5 inches of snow again yesterday/last night – YIPPEE! Kim, you would appreciated the snow drifts on County H that I had to drive thru this morning – I thought of you as I was coming to work. I think I was driving in the other lane most of the time since the snow was blowing off of the big piles of snow along the roads. Hopefully, these storms will be all done by the time you both get back. I better get back to work – please take care of each other and I will continue to pray that all goes well. Love you lots and lots (as Brandon and Jamey always say). You are doing an AWESOME job Devin – keep up the good work.

Hi Kim and Devin,
So glad to hear that you made it through the first spinal! Hang in there – only four more treatments and 20 days to go – but who’s counting !? We continue to pray for you that everything goes wonderfully! We are so proud and amazed of how well you are doing – you are both so strong and courageous!
I am very jealous to hear that you got to go for a walk outside-it will probably be May or June before we can here with all the snow! We all have a very bad case of spring fever here!
Take care and continue to stay strong! WE MISS YOU!
Love and Prayers,
Chris, Kim, Danny and Andy

Hello Devin,
It was great to hear that you are doing well and made it through the first spinal. My class is always asking about you and we look forward to your updates. Your description of the therapy room reminded us of our classroom when you come for a visit.
It is very cold today. There would be no long walks outside for you here. We are looking forward to spring- be sure and bring some home for us.
We are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers,
Mrs. Davies and the Fifth Graders at CCES
