2 down 2 to GO!!!!

March 4th, 2008

Well we made it through another spinal.  I thought the 2nd one would be easier however I really don’t think any of them will be easy when they wheel your son away from you.  Unfortunately, this time Devin was not as cooperative and he had to pay the consequence’s.  The nurses here are really good with IV placement however since Devin was not cooperating it took 3 IV’s for one to work.  So, you could just image how the rest of the day wen. Therefore I will not go into detail and just say we survived and as I always tell myself it could have been worse.

Today Devin woke up in a good mood which was great and that meant no complications again.  He worked so hard at therapy that he needed to take a nap at lunch.  After the nap we had to plan for a surprise 30th birthday party.  Yes, it was for me!!!!  I wish as I have come to realize I am the oldest one here (no need for additional comments on this statement).  Lora from New Jersey turned 30 today so we are throwing her a surprise 30th and order pizza and getting a cake.  And yes of course you know me if it’s a party your going to need beer (that saying just reminded me of “If you give a mouse a cookie”).  Now Annie, that would be the kind of book I could write!!!!

Well since I wrote the above earlier I thought I would write before we went to bed and it is really late for us it is already 8:00 pm which means some of you might already be trying to read this.  So I will talk fast like you already don’t know that…The party was a hit and the Chinese cake was actually pretty good if you like sponge type cake.

That’s all I have to say as I still have to give Devin his shower yet before he gets to go to bed!!!!

Happy Tuesday to you all and stay warm as I heard winter is back again.  I sure will try to bring the sun and warmth back with me.

    Hi Kim & Devin,
It’s Hayley. It seems weird that you are a whole day ahead of us.
Yesterday would have been a good time for the primary school to be like the China children. Conner couldn’t go the the bathroom from noon on. He told me about this when he got on the bus. There was a water main break. All I could think about was the splits in the pants. YUCK!!! That would be awful. I am looking foward to Easter, and the Easter egg hunt down at grandma’s.I hope you have a great night!
    Love,
    Hayley

Kim and Devin (the rock star),
I’m so glad things are going well for you both in China, and that the adventure is more than half over and you’ll be home in less than 2 weeks – YIPPEE! It has been so much fun to read about your trip. I know you haven’t taken too many photos but I’d be honored to help you put together a book about your trip – after tax season is over, of course. Looking forward to seeing you both in a few weeks! Love to you both, Aunt Wendy

    Hi Kim and Devin,
How are you both doing? Devin, it sounds like you are doing a great job – keep up the good work (you only have 2 more left to go:)). And you are doing awesome with your therapy it sounds like – you are such a trooper and now a ‘HOOTERS’ Boy – you go Devin. I am sure I have a couple of little boys (and maybe one big boy) that would of liked to share that experience with you and Mom. I hope you got pictures, Kim (not for me, but for the boys)!!

I was reading the comment above from Hayley and it is so cute and precious – you will need to print them all off and put in Devin’s memory book of your trip and experiences as well as all of the ones that you write – that way he’ll always have them and you can read them together in a few years to remember what it was all like – just a thought (I am sure you already thought of that). Well, I better get back to work. Take care and as always you are both in my prayers each day. Love you lots and lots…Shelley, Tom and Boys.
