Center of attention
June 12th, 2008
First thing this morning Doug was told that the head neurosurgeon was here and that he had been chosen for them to do their assessment on. Doug’s comment when told was “Oh, did I win another 30 days of treatment”. It was actually Doug’s assessment as well as an assessment of the medical staff’s procedures. It took about 45 minutes and there were 11 of them in the room at once. Sure wish we could have understood what they were saying as Doug’s doctor sure said a lot, as well as 3 other doctors who have been seeing him through out his stay gave their comments. They then put him through the same drill that they put him through when we first got here. Everything was video again so I hope that we get to see the videos. I can see the change but Doug doesn’t.
The sun broke through today so we were able to get out. I went out for a bit while Doug was getting acupuncture and electric wave. When all of his therapies were finish we went out for a couple of hours. Visited the park, RT mart and KFC. It was nice to get out for a bit.
Love to all, Dar and Doug
What do you think? Center of attention !!!!!!

Good morning D&D We have been following your progression with great interest. Keep up the good work Doug!!!! We will also be looking forward to hearing reports once you arrive home.
It’s wet & cold here. I hate to complaine about the rain in the semi arid area of Medicine Hat, but we could sure use some sun. It was sad to see the picture of the flooded fields in China.
Have a save trip home. Thinking of you B&D

Hi D & D, Hoping all continues to go well with and for you.
We finally got our share of rain–21/2 inches yesterday. [our gauge is still 'non-metric'] !! It is still cool -no golf today ! Have touched base with your Dad and had a great phone visit. Our regards, Margaret & Les

Hi Dar and Doug
I have been watching with great excitement the progress Doug is making. Doug believe it or not you can see changes happening to you in the photos we see. I am sure that the progress might seem slow to you but as one of your doctor’s have said: “babies have to learn to sit, crawl and then they learn to walk and run”.
I know the work is hard and the tedeium of not moving your head etc is difficult but keep at it and look forward to your coming home.

Good Morning: It will be interesting for the two of you to speak with your doctor alone and hear what all the poking and prodding was about. It certainly did appear that you were their “centre of attention”. I hope that you get to see the before and after video so that Doug will see for himself the improvement he has made. We have had lots of rain over the past two days – our poor Dutch doesn’t like it – has been doing a lot of hopping from one foot to the other before he makes the mad dash out the door and back. It is quite the scene. Makes for good entertainment. I know you don’t particularly like the CFL Doug but the first Rider game is tomorrow night. Green will definitely be the color tomorrow – I think I will start off the day by wearing my jersey to work. I am a little over the top when it comes to the Riders. Ken just shakes his head. Take care – see you soon. luv u Auntie B.
