Grace started today with her usual routine of Physio (she did it all), Acupuncture (she h ates it) and electrical wave therapy (it’s ok). Then she had her 2nd IV (third injection) and once again she didn’t cry when they put the IV in, even though it took them two tries, and she’s had no side affects. I’m beginning to think all they’re putting in is weak tea.
A bit of useless info (but it might hold off the biochemistry lecture from Uncle Matt!)The Stemcells are clear and it’s the neural growth factors that give them their brown colour. In the IV they mix the two together and in the Spinal they remove some spinal fluid to make room for the stemcells and inject straight after and give the neural growth factors via IV at the same time.
The days are going pretty quick here and the evenings go a little slower. Once grace goes to sleep at 7 i have time to eat my dinner, have a shower and write this blog. That takes me to about 8.15 and i’m in bed! I’m well rested anyway.
You’ve probably noticed i’m missing out a few things from the blog, 1 being any photo’s of the stemcell treatment but i don’t think anybody wants or needs to see Grace hooked up to an IV or sedated after her spinal. 2 being no mention of any improvements. I want to see the reaction of others before i confirm any changes because although I’m her harshest critic i think I’m probably seeing improvements because i want them and not because they’re there. One improvement i can comment on is that she will now let me brush and tie her hair back (Cerys from Ysgol Y Bryn will be very proud!) so she doesn’t always look like a feral child now, just some of the time.
It’s almost 8.30 here and past my bedtime.
Goodnight.
Hi Leanne.
Im glad to hear Grace is getting on well, im sure we will see a change in her when you come home, when you see her all the time you might not notice as much.I hope your keeping well! Ill keep mommy updated. You should have seen the state of me trying to figure out how to get in to the blog, im sure the woman in the internet cafe taught i was having a laugh when i asked for help! I only have dial-up at home so i cant get on to it cause its so slow but i can check on my lunch in the cafe!
Lots of love Deborah, Dave ,Kyle and Ethan xxxx
Hiya lovelies
I just thought I’d log on to the blog whilst having my lunch and am delighted to read that all is well. You are both doing so brilliantly and are both so very brave.
I think everyone will be interested in the make-up of the IV’s, injections etc and it’s great to be able to learn what’s happening and how. (Hopefully you may just have learnt something about it that Uncle Matt doesn’t know!), only joking Matt!
I’m sure that the improvements you are seeing are really happening, as I know that you are a very level headed person and judging by your comments on a previous posting you are aware that your maternal instincts are at the forefront of everything else, I would doubt that you are imagining these improvements. That said, we all wait with baited breath for any news and can’t wait to see you both back in the UK.
Can’t imagine Grace looking neat and tidy without that mop of dishevelled hair but those of us who know and love her know that she’s beautiful inside and out. I expect that her Daddy thinks it’s excellent news!!! no need for a number 1 now.
Ivy’s daughter was asking about you both the other evening as I was getting Rose out of the car and she sends her best. Rose was patiently sitting in her car seat shouting ‘hiya’ for all she was worth whilst we were talking. Bless her, Also I heard through the grapevine that she spotted Veronica and Dessie in the supermarket and was also shouting ‘hiya’ to them, no escape for them anymore!
OK, I’ll stop now and I’ll speak to you soon. Stay positive and give Grace and yourself a big hug from me and granddad.
love as ever
Mum xx
Hiya,
All still going well then. Sounds like Grace is being very accomodating. She is such a good girl. You both will be so tired when you get back home. I bet you are looking forward to getting back to your usual routine with Daddy and Rose when you get back. So you have been there for 12 days now, getting close to half way there.
It has stopped trying to snow here now! Gary has come back from working in Manchester today but has to go back to London for a week on Monday. He has been away for 5 days a week for the past 6 weeks, I am really getting fed up with it now, only 3 more weeks left now though.
It was Adelaides birthday on the 17th, she is 11 now. Its hard to believe it was her 3rd birthday when I first met her! She doesnt remember a time when she didnt know me, which is nice.
Very boring here, nothing to report!
Big kiss to Grace,
love to you both,
Siobhan & Gary

Hi Leanne and Grace,
Thanks for the kind wishes. Paul and I are house hunting like mad. We have to get a place in the catchment area of the school we want Jon to attend which is restricting us a lot but we can move again in 6 months time once she has been accepted there.
You will be more thank welcome to come and visit. Just be prepared for the long flight. Although I must admit it wasn’t at all as bad as people had lead me to believe. Qantas are great and we were well looked after wit lots of TV and movies to choose from.
It sounds like Grace is getting a thourough workout there but she is being very strong and coping well. I am so proud of both of you. You deserve a spa holiday when you return
I don’t have a lot of internet access at the moment but I’ll try to stay in touch.
Give Grace a big hug from Oz I’ll send you over some Ozzy treats for when you return
Lots of love xxx
