Hi all, sorry for the delay but i’ve been without internet access for 2 days so lost contact with the outside world. Everything here is fine and Grace seems to be returning to her usual self. I’ve got peace and quiet today as she’s spent most of it sedated for the spinal which is good seen as yesterday all we did was fight and argue. How she argues without saying a word i don’t know but she certainly knows how to wind me up. Anyway she’s fit and healthy and taking everything in her stride.
Last night was a bit of a late one as we had heavy rain, thunder and lightning. It was very loud and very bright and everytime the thunder went so did somebody’s car alarm. So it meant myself and Grace we’re sat in bed waiting for it to pass. Grace wasn’t bothered at all even though some of them were so loud they made me jump. Must be all the dumplings she’s eating making her lazy.
Acupuncture yesterday was very bad and i’m considering cancelling it for the rest of the trip. The distress it’s causing her must be outweighing the benefits.
grace now seems to be cooperating more during rehab but is definitely more responsive during O.T. Whether this is due to the therapist, the room or the time of day i’m not sure.
I’m starting to see the end now so hopefully the next weeks posts wont be full of gloom and me moaning. I’ve found this trip very hard and have been very homesick which has made me incredibly critical and irritable (even more than usual). If i don’t count today or the day we leave the hospital it is only 8 days left.
We had Dumplings again today for dinner and as Grace is a bit out of it she let me have more than 3 this time, so she’s not the only one feeling a little lethargic now.
Going to try and get an early night.
Thanks for all you’re comments.

Hi to you both,
Good to hear you are doing OK. We have had stormy weather here too. Very windy but no thunder and lightening yet. It usually happens in November.
It is good that you are seeing an end in sight. It will be nice to know when you are both safe and at home again.
Trust your instinct with the acupuncture. You are there and can see what is happening and know better than anyone if Grace is just playing up or if it really bothers her. You always look out for her so do what you think is right.
I have spent the night dyeing Jon’s hair. first there was prelightening then base colour then highlights! It’s after 10pm and i am ready for bed! I hope it turns out well otherwise we may have a very unhappy Jon on our hands. Paul is in Melbourne for a neeting in the morning. I wanted to go too but since we’ve spent all our money on a house i didn’t want to push it!
Enjoy your dumplings. You’ll have to find a good source for them when you are home. grace will demand them!
Good night and lots of love xxx

Hiya
Hope things went well for Grace’s spinal today and that things wern’t too difficult for you both. Orla’s right about your instincts, you are not usually wrong and if you think Grace is getting too distressed with the acupuncture, you would be right to stop it. Follow what your heart says.
Hope the thunderstorm has freshened things up a bit. We are supposed be suffering from the effects of hurricane Billy here but it hasn’t been too bad, maybe Billy has lost his way and has hit you instead.
Well, tonight, is very exciting, I’m getting the spare room ready for Jamie, Rachel and Connah’s visit on Friday. Not what anyone would want to do after a day in work but it has to be done by Friday and tomorrow night is shopping night. Can’t believe how much junk I have collected in there since I last cleared it out!
Rose and I didn’t do KFC after all, as she had chicken dippers at nursery and didn’t more chicken, so we came back here and she munched her way through the few hours till Daddy came to collect her. She decided she would try the black pepper crackers and liked them so much she insisted on taking the remainder home with her!!!
Well, you only have 1 week left till you start your journey home and we will all be glad to have you both back. We are all very proud of you both and your Nan as usual sends her love.
ged hasn’t got his laptop with him this week in Hamburg so he’s a bit out of the loop but sends his love.
Love to you both and the usual big kisses for Grace XX
I’m off now to see how many houshold devices I can stagger upstairs with in one go, (mop, bucket, henry etc.). Might even have got rid of my bingo wings by the time you get back (not!!)
Mum xx
hey
glad to hear that the end is in sight and hopefully things will get easier!!! i know this is going to make me seem very stupid but what are dumplings? it’s been bugging me but i was holding out on asking cos i was hoping they might be explained at a later date but seemingly everyone else knows what they are except me!!!! I’m just a dumbass!!
Poor Grace, the acupuncture does sound terrible but as orla and your mum already said….mother knows best….. so just go with what feels right!!!we’re still watching out for cheap flights so we’ll be over as soon as we see any!!!
