Happy Birthday Joanne

Hello…..There seems to be a little confusion about Joanne’s Birthday. It is April 17th, 1960, and that makes her 39 years old. Ha! Ha! Not 28 years old Maria . Aunt Shirley you didn’t have to wish a belated birthday as you were early and Sheri I don’t remember you telling me it was the 14th of April.OMG! Joanne thinks I have lost my marbles. She thinks I have forgotten and misled everyone . So I will do what most guys do and have a beer.

Well today was just a gorgeous day . The temperature was in the mid 20′s and there was a light breeze if any, plenty of sunshine and just a hint of smog. Joanne , Carol and I took a long walk to that mall, where I was at the other day . I was so impressed by it I wanted Joanne to see it. We were able to make it up the flight of stairs entering the mall with the help of a security guard. Unfortunately the center of the mall was inaccessible because of stairs and escalators. But we were able to see a few shops. Later we stopped at a small restaurant where Carol ordered us some food . I never no what to call it , other than describe what the food looks like. There was noodles, vegetables, and large chunks of beef. Kind of like chunky soup but the broth wasn’t like gravy. We used chopsticks to eat it with and Carol gave me the thumbs up for doing pretty good with them. Now for the broth ……this is when I got this great idea ….drill a hole through the chopsticks and use it like a straw . Chopsticks with a dual purpose …grab and lift the solids to your mouth and the liquids suck it through the chopstick as if it were a straw. Sounds like a great idea!!! Or just use a spoon. Anyways it was a great afternoon just to get out of the hospital for a while.

Joanne and I want to update everyone with her progress. She wants everyone to know that somedays she feels as if she has a lot more energy and somedays she is totally fatigued. The sensations she has in her limbs come and go also. The doctors did tell us not to expect anything for 3-6 months , so we will wait and see. A lot of people that are reading this blog and are also suffering from MS have left comments and/or have emailed us wanting to know how Joanne is doing and if we can help them with questions regarding procedures etc. We intend to be as honest and as helpful as we can and will try to get back to everyone ASAP.. We will keep this blog going as long as we can and I will leave our email address at the end of this entry. Joanne has 2 more stemcell injections to go and we will be leaving in 9 more days.Take Care Everyone ……thanks for all the moral support it has been fantastic!!!!     Email:  brijo@sasktel.net

We must have been writing at the same time….I sent my birthday wishes on the “one day over” column and when I was finished your new column came up. Tried you on skype last night, but you must not have had a connection. I could imagine the wheels in your brain turning for the chopstick idea…hilarious!!! You should patent it…lol. Miss you guys and love you too

Happy Birthday Joanne. I hope you have a wonderful day. Of course, your birthday is actually tomorrow for us here as it is the evening of the 16th, which is Justin’s birthday. We just returned from a lovely dinner at The Cottage & we’re all STUFFED!!! It was the kind of dinner Brian will be wanting to have as soon as you guys get home, I’m sure. Can you believe our boys are 26 years old??? Wow, where has the time gone? Brian, I think I’ll join you in the vodka thing, however, mine will be called a Paralyzer!!! Anyway, we made Willy pay for the whole thing & I’m sure you must know how well that went over…..no, some things never change. Anyway, take care, both of you & keep smiling Joanne.
    Luv, Jackie

    Hi Joanne & Brian,

I remembered it was your birthday on the 17th Joanne. It does help that it is the day after my dad’s birthday. I hope you have a wonderful birthday. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day so I most likely won’t be on the computer to send you birthday wishes so I am sending them a day early.

I work all day tomorrow and then in the evening Jack and I are going to Josh’s college, which is over an hour away, for a choir concert that Josh will be in. We will be getting back home very late. We are going back to the college on Friday to see Josh perform a solo on the marimba (it looks like big wooden xylophone) at another concert. He is very busy at college, but loving it!!

James & Sheena are busy with wedding plans. The wedding date is Oct 18th. I can’t believe it is only six months away. I really need to get started on that diet.

I hope you get strong more each day and have a great birthday. It is only your 29th right?? Must be, cause we are the same age.

    Love Josie Boychuk

    Hi Joanne and Brian:

Happy Birthday girl! You sure know how to do something different on your birthday. Come on Brian – get out of the rut – instead of beer try some Chinese Mautai!

    Hi Joanne and Brian:
A very Happy Birthday to you Joanne. Your birthday cake and roses look absolutely lovely. Thanks for all the pictures Brian. Gives us an idea of where you are.
Things are rolling along. Mac is still on the shutdown. These 4.00 a.m. mornings are getting very tiring!!! Mac of coarse comes home at 10.00 a.m. and goes back to bed to get ready for the aft. shift. He has his bike out, so is taking every opportunity to ride. I keep trying to convince him to ride his peddle bike as he needs more exercise, but that advise keeps going over the top.!!!!
Really enjoy your blog with the updates of your progress Joanne. Keep strong, and enjoy your time left. Jason should soon be there I guess.
    Take care. Cheers.
    Mac & Marg.
