First spinal update

July 15th, 2008

Joshua had his first stem cell injection through an IV yesterday. He did good. It only took about an hour to complete. Most of the day we just laid around. I think we are still recovering from traveling here. It takes awhile to get adjusted.

About 7:00 last night we were bored so we finally ventured out by ourselves. Josh has been wanting to try KFC here, so we took him to the one in the RT Mart. When Kacie was here she really liked the shrimp sandwiches so Josh wanted to try one.We looked at the menu with pictures when we got there and we couldn’t find it. Nobody spoke enough english to understand what we were talking about so Josh just got some chicken and mashed potatoes. He said it was pretty good. Next time we’ll have someone write it down for us in Chinese.

We got Josh’s schedule for the week. He will have acupuncture today, wed. and thurs. Friday he will have his first spinal injection. Hopefully everything will go good. He’s a little nervous about it but I guess that’s to be expected. After Friday, he’ll know what to expect so he won’t worry about it so bad. Everyone here is super nice. Thank goodness for our translator Jessie. She has been a lot of help. I’d like to take her everywhere we go. That’s the hardest part is trying to communicate with people here. It gets very stressful.

Today after Josh’s acupuncture, we will probably venture out downtown and do a little shopping and hopefully try some different food. We get a little stir crazy sitting in this room all day. We miss everyone very much. We wish it was time to come home. As always we ask you pray for Josh that his treatments will go well. I’ll try and get some pictures on here soon.

Melissa

Are my comments making it thru. I’ve never blogged before. It’s pretty cool. I saw on kathy’s comments that she is getting a phone number from Jimmie. Would it be ok if I called Josh? Your blog is so cool to read. Tell Josh I’m so proud of him and that I love him very much. You and Jimmie have made him into quite a wonderful young man. You should be very proud of yourself. Tell your mom hi for me.

Glad that things are moving forward, and you are getting to eat something..(Chinese Food?)…Hope Josh gets his sandwich soon. Wilma– We miss you soooo much, but Kathy is filling in and able to handle the smart a**’s at the big table. You taught her well! She has a smart answer nearly everytime.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We are so glad to have this method to keep up with Josh. Thanks, Melissa.

Hi Melissa! I am a friend of Wilma’s that goes to
Brenda’s each day along with my husband Tom.
We got your blog address from Kathy. Tell
Wilma we miss her much and all of you are in our
prayers. Tom sent the blog address to our
table friends so that they could write also, so
Wilma knows all of us at the “crazy” table are
thinking of her. Sounds as thou things are going
very well for Josh and pray they continue. We
will keep in touch. Tell Wilma we love her. Faye

    Hi, ya’ll…..
I don’t know if Josh has had his first spinal stem cell procedure yet, but just wanted you to know that we are all thinking of you and praying that it isn’t too painful. Wish I could take all the pain for you, Bubba, and you could just have the benefits. Love you a lot.
    Grandma Debbie
