3rd Treatment today!

November 5th, 2008

2nd Spinal, 3rd treatment in total.

So, the process starts again with i.v.’s being inserted, eat by 9a.m. for treatment at 3p.m. and try and kill time in and around the hospital, not giving Kits anything to eat or drink!  I wasn’t given any warning today about the i.v. so I didn’t have time to put the emla cream on her hands to help numb them. Usually I’m given half an hours warning, so I can apply cream on the back of her hands and her feet to take away some of the pain. Both hands and feet are covered to give options!

Kitty seems to be waking up tired, eventhough she’s sleeping really well and in a good routine from day 2. Docs came to see her this morning and said she must rest so I pulled her Physical Therapy today, and will try to get her to have a good sleep before lunch. The physical therapy is very physical and not what we term Physio. Kits is really put through her paces and it seems to be strength training and weight bearing exercises rather than controlled movement and correct posture or ability patterns. The combination of stem cells and really good physio 5 days a week would be amazing. Shame we couldn’t bring our own physio therapist with us (fancy a trip to china Caro?)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kitty rolled again this morning, which she has been doing since we got here, but the difference today was that she went from being on her tummy (and not liking it as usual) to rolling herself back onto her back whithout any help at all. She always used to need a bit of hands on encouragement! She was so pleased with herself too, as she should be!

Kitty’s waving is getting better and better too. For a few weeks now she has opened and closed her hand (mostly the right) when saying goodbye, but last night when Mum left for her hotel she actually lifted her arm right up and did her little wave. It was so cute and clever, she’s trying so hard, and wonderfully for us, she understands everything. I asked her where Ruby was today (bit mean I know) but she really looked around the room, looked over at the door, then smiled and looked straight at the photos stuck to the wall. She loves looking at the pics I brought from home of us all, but she seems to particularly like looking at photos of herself! Typical girl!!

I’m going to look at the web site you sent details of Mark, to see if I can get some images on here.

    Hi Girls,
Wow! sounds like things are going really well, I’m not surprised Kitty’s tired, all that rolling over! I’m so glad the trip has been worth all of your worrying and it’s still early days.
    Thinking of you lots.
    Love Da Panthas xxxxx
