Post China
June 12th, 2007
Well I have been home for about 3 weeks now, so I thought I would write a little update on my progress.
So far, my pain is still less. It is not gone away but it is tolerable, I haven’t had to take anything for pain in over 5 weeks. To be able to wake up in the morning and take a deep breath without cringing in pain is worth more than I could ever put into words. I still haven’t had a bladder infection since I’ve been back….lets hope they stay away. And just recently I’ve been able to flex the muscles in my lower back, its stronger on my left than my right. In general I feel better, stronger, my transfers (with board) are easier, and I can now get into my equipement without assistance.
All in all it was more than worth the trip to China, my quality of life has improved dramatically. Something I never thought I would get back……truely remarkable.
Skepticism is only an enemy of the mind.

I have been following your China experience through your blog and the occasional e-mail from Louise. I am amazed and inspired by your courage and attitude. Your hilarious accounts of the traffic challenges were most enjoyable reading. I commend you for turning what would have been absolutely frightening experiences for most of us (I am terrified of needles) into humourous events , truly admirable!
I’m delighted to hear of the physical improvements, the SC treatments combined with your awesome positive attitude is no doubt working.
All the best!
Uncle Ted

Hi Leslie,
I am from Singapore
I have had SCI injury following a road traffic accident on October 2003. Sustained ossified anterior and posterior longitudinal ligaments with spinal compression at C2-C6 level, worst at C2-3 level
I had been offer and accepted for treatment by Beike Cell Engineering for 5 injection (same as what you did in China)
I’m very much hope that you can share some information with me.. well before going to China receiving this stemcell treatment. Please email me. Thank you very much

Hello , I am doing research about stem cell therapy for spinal cord injury for a friend whose 18 yr old son is presently at Craig Hospital in Colorado for rehab. He has a T5 complete ASI A and I am trying to find some results through stem cells for a similar type and level of injury. I see that your original injury was incomplete but do you know of anyone who has seen improvement from the injury level above? I am glad to hear of your improvement.
blessings,
Michele Bussell
