Hello
October 13th, 2008
It is about 4:30 here on Monday, we just got back from Lukes 1st spinal injection. I seems to be doing well he smiled at me and the nurses right before he fell asleep. The procedure took 40 minutes and I was so happy to see him, he gave me another half drunk smile when I saw him, he was pretty out of it. It is a scary thing to have your child sedated and taken away from you in foreign county, but they gave him back and he is doing fine.
Luke now has to lie flat for next six hours and has not eaten since 8:00 this morning, it could be a rough night ahead. Since Luke has been unable to eat I decided I would try to do the same until we could eat together. It lasted until about 11:30, I did seek into the bathroom to eat some beef jerky so he wouldn’t see me.
Luke and I had a nice weekend we walked to a park about twenty minutes away there was a big lake and water gardens very pretty and hard to describe. There were also 5 or 6 wedding parties there with brides and grooms walking all over the place getting their pictures takes. One bride and groom looked like they had already hit a rough patch, I could tell b/c the groom was walking about 15 ft ahead of his bride and nobody with them looked like they had smiled all day, I thought good luck. Luke was the star there no matter hom many brides were around, he got his picture taken by compete strangers 5 -6 times.
We are looking forward to getting back home everyday. Thanks for everyones comments and we will write again soon.
Take care,
Clint

Glad to hear everything is going good. We are thinking about you all the time. Avery still prays for Luke everyday. Just remember that anything worth doing is never easy. As you probalbly know Mizzou lost this weekend. We play #1 UT next Saturday. We need to win!! Something funny that might make you laugh happened to me the other night. I got up to get a drink at 4am. Dark and half asleep I went into the fridge. Right before I went for the ice I stepped on one of the kids cars. The car is about the size of a lunchbox and makes noises when you push it. My feet flew up in the air. I caught myself before falling but the car went zooming off making extremely loud revving sounds. Rachel thought it was prettty funny. My next post I will tell you about the agonizing half marathon. Talk to you soon.

Thank you for the updates. You are on my mind all the time, I’m glad to read you’ve found some parks to go to. When I heard it was such a busy city, I figured you’d find some niche away from it all. Glad to hear Luke & you are still doing well.

Luke and Clint,
I am a friend of your Mother, Clint. You have both been in my thoughts and prayers, you are very brave to take such a trip. As parents we will do anything for our children.
Your updates are very interesting and I have a different take on China than I did before.
May God be with you both and also your family at home.
Sincerely,
Janet

Clint and Luke,
Don’t know what to say other than Dad and I are so very proud of you. You are daily pulling from inner strength that you didn’t even know you had. Thank you for being such a wonderful and loving father. You come from a long line of loving and caring fathers. You now understand without a doubt the love that a parent has for a child. Keep smiling. Take just one day at a time. We love you more than you know.
Mom and Dad

Hi Clint – Hello Luke. Hope Luke has been able to eat and he is recovering well from his procedure. I know in Japan the jerky is really baby octopus – so be careful of the local “beef” jerky – never can tell.
How is the China language books working? The park sounds great and hope Luke enjoyed it. Glad you both get out to enjoy the sights.
Thinking of you both – take care.

It’s great to be able to stay in touch with you and Luke. It sounds like everything is going well with Luke’s therapy. Like Kirk said many things worth doing are not easy. It’s a comforting feeling knowing that Luke is able to share his smiles with so many people.
Stacey had a wonderful day for her wedding day to Jeremy Hamelton on the 11th. I was so much looking forward to seeing Cheryl and Cody at the wedding. I totally understand why they couldn’t make it. It was nice to see Avery, Taylor, Mike, and Kathy. Avery and Taylor danced the night away. Kathy and Joe looked very good on the dance floor. Mike and Joe stood in for Kirk and sang “make it hurt so good”. I kicked up my heels a little too. It was a nice party. I hope when Stacey and Jeremy become parents that they will keep the interest of their child priorty one like you and Cheryl have.
Hang in there.
Debbie

Clint and Luke, I just manuevered the site to see that we could comment. We just got back from Kyler’s wedding, but we kept up on the site when we were at aunt cherie’s. Just want you to know that lots of people at First Pres are asking about you and praying for you. I know these must be difficult days, being so far away and not with the rest of your family, to say nothing of the difficulty of taking care of Luke 24/7 and the difficult proceedures. We are very thankful that God gives you the energy and strength and patience that you need to face each day. We send our love. Buck and Barb

Hi Clint and Luke. “Big Eagle” here and “Momma Eagle”. Your comments are very heart warming and just goes to prove what wonderful parents you and Cheryl are. But we already knew that. Been thinking about both of you a lot and our thoughts and prayers go out to you. Sounds like everything is going smoothly and undoubedly God is watching over that precious little boy.
I have the utmost respect for what you are trying to accomplish. Keep your spirits up and just keep plugging away. It never ceases to amaze me the power of a parent’s love for their children.
Our very best regards,
“Big Eagle” & “Momma Eagle”

Clint & Luke,
I just wanted to know that I have been thinking of you everyday and can’t wait until you are home. Cheryl and Cody came over the other day for a visit and Taylor told me that she sure misses Luke. She said “Mom I just love that little Luke he is just my best.” I know it has got to be so hard to be there away from family and friends. I just know in my heart that it will be the best thing you have ever done. We are keeping you in our prayers and love you. Give Luke a kiss for us.

Hi Clint!
I laugh every time I read your updates. I’m glad China hasn’t changed your sense of humor. I can picture Luke’s smile. He’s a blessing! Jim, Faith, Lauren, and I just wanted to pass along our good wishes so you know that you and Luke (and Cheri, Cody, and the babies to come) are thought of daily!
Love,
The Alley’s

Luke
It is great to know that you and daddy are doing well. I know it must be pretty scary being in that big city, but remember, we are all saying prayers and sending our love everyday. You will home real soon.
Love to you both.
PS. Tell daddy the Nowlins said hello.
