Unfortunately, Lydia is experiencing some typical side effects from a spinal stem cell treatment:  headache, vomitting, fever.  Her temp is rising and is now 100+ and the nurse went to check with the doctor about more meds.  She has had a rough day-first the headache, then vomitting, now fever.  This morning an opthamologist tried to see her for an evaluation, however he wanted her to do the most difficult thing-keep her eyes open with a bright light shining in it.  I tried to explain it was a very painful thing for her, but the doctor persisted and ,of course, was unsuccessful.  He came to the room later in the afternoon with the same result and with Lydia crying uncontrollably.  Then, due to her symptoms, IV fluids needed to be started again.  Unfortunately her right hand IV was bad and burned, had to put in new IV on the left-more sobbing.  The new IV was better, her favorite nurse Sophie put it in and I think that helped her.  Now she is sleeping and I have to wake her to give her Ibuprofen.   I hope tomorrow is better and this doesn’t happen after every procedure!

Hello, I tried to leave a message yesterday but it didn’t take. My heart goes out to both of you–you guys are having a rough time it sounds. I wanted to let you know that mega prayers are being sent for you both. My mom and aunt go to Our Lady of Snows in Belleville Il. every month and pray with a man that apparently has visions from Mary. They have you and Lydia’s name and are all praying for you both. I wish I could give you a hug–poor little pooper–give yourselves a squeeze for me!!!!!!!!! :) Gen

Hang in there, Lydia. We’re all praying for you here in St. Louis! Sometimes the side effects make treatments very unpleasant—Brooke can share that with you. You and Brooke will have some stories to share once you get back to the states!
Here’s hoping today goes better…. and the next, and the next….

    Hi Lydia —
I hope you are feeling better — it is no fun when you don’t feel like yourself. Josie has kept you in her prayers, just as I have. She has a “God Bless” list every night, but in the middle of it she stops to say a special prayer for you and your doctors. Keep on being brave!

    Hi Juli & Lydia,

I’m so sorry to hear that Lydia is feeling bad :( I’m just sure there will be good results to come! Juli, I hope you’re not starving, the meat situation sounds horrible! I hope both of you get some rest – tell Lydia to keep being brave…I think about both of you all the time! Tiffany

I hope that the next treatments will go better, especially if there can be some sedation. I’m sure that getting started is the hardest part. Lydia is right. The next time will go well because everyone knows what to expect. She is already mentally preparing herself for next time. What an amazing girl! Hang in there. I hope things are already better by the time you are reading this. Keep in touch.

Hi, I was wondering in your comment on your notes about things being rough the past couple of days. Is anything going wrong with the treatments or anything at the facility? Just curious….I wonder what it is like there at the facility, is it clean, has Lydia gotten sick again from treatments? Is there any improvement for her. Thanks so much….as I said before, we are trying to take my grandson over there soon, and would appreciate any info. I did get your mail about the cost of the trip. I am really nervous about taking a baby over there. thanks. Parris
