Today the weather is again cold, foggy and snowy. Makes for a sleepy/lazy day inside. Unfortunately Lydia has been vomitting all day since she tried to eat lunch today. So much for the sleeping part. Hopefully this is just a short time virus that will soon disappear. I don’t like seeing her not feel well and I don’t want anything to keep us from leaving on the 5th. I do look forward to the comforts and privacy of home!
Yesterday, we went for a walk past the Chinese WallyWorld and found a nice park. Has a couple of swings and a small statue of a dog Lydia enjoyed feeling. She needed to “go potty”. The only thing around was a small restaurant, they let us use the bathroom (I guess they felt some pity for the 3 Americans underdressed for the cold weather). I am not sure how to describe the bathroom: a hole in the floor would be the easiest. Yes, the toilet was flush with the floor, no TP,no bars, no flushing mechanism. WOW, took me a minute to figure out how it was going to work. Defintely an experience for us, I think Lydia was a little scared. The “Big Adventure” continues!
Be sure to check out some of the other blogs to the right. Several of them are people that are here and we interact with daily. Please keep them in your prayers as well.

Hi Lydia,
I ate lunch with Ms. Jennifer and she told me she had just sent off a special package for you. I hope that ‘s inside will bring a little home to you. It is cold here as well but tommorow it is supposed to be in 50 degrees plus. We could stand a break from the bitter cold… Sounds like you all can too. It won’t be long before you are all home. Keep on being brave.

Dear Juli and Lydia,
Hope the flu bug is over and you are feeling better again. Lydia, you are sooooo brave! You should write a book about your trip…….the good things and the scary things…..and that potty experience sounds pretty darn scary! We are all missing you and thinking about you every day. There are a lot of us who want to make sure that both of you have a lot of your FAVORITE things to eat and drink when you get home so send us a list so we can have things ready when you come home. WE LOVE YOU! God Bless!

Lydia,
I do hope that you are feeling better by now. That is no fun for sure. I sent mom a picture of you in your kindergarten classroom. You can share it with your firends there and tell them about it. It is a picture of you standing in front of your aquarium in the class. I hope that the package gets to you before you head for home.

Dear Lydia,
I wish you could have been at church yesterday. After Sunday School, at noon, everyone had soup, sandwiches, and dessert for lunch. Guess what it was called… It was called Lydia’s Lunch! Lots and lots of people came to eat because they love you and want your treatments to go well. Everyone is proud of you for being soooo brave. There were so many people that the fellowship hall (where you get cake on “Cake Sunday”) and all the Sunday School classrooms were full of people eating lunch. I had yellow soup (broccoli cheese) and yellow pie (coconut cream) because they reminded me of you and your favorite color. They were both yummy!
Keep bringing sunshine into the lives of all the doctors and nurses and other families where you are. You’ll be home in a little over a week and maybe we’ll see you in Belgrade not too long after that. We are all very proud of you!

(P.S. A game to pass the time when you have to hold still:
“I Am Thinking of…”
Think of something that you can describe without telling what it is. Tell what it feels like, what it sounds like, maybe even what it tastes like and have someone guess what it is. Then have that person describe something for you to guess. Keep playing and getting more complicated so you can stump your partner!)

Haha! Juli and Lydia, I know just what toilets you mean. (I have had to use a few in Thailand). Not very fun to use. Nice that you are experiencing all the Chinese culture. You will be home soon!
