A New Beginning

Hello friends and family…Macie told you some of her news and I wanted to let all of you know that she is seeing a little further than when we got here.  We did some eye tests today and in 2 and half weeks she has improved from reading the first 2 lines on the eye chart to now the first 3 lines.  She is very happy about that to say the least.   We are just so thankful to see results so quickly.  It’s been good for Macie because she told me today that deep down she did not think that this would work.  She said she hoped it would but deep down she felt like nothing would happen so you can only imagine how excited she was when she noticed she could see further, and even though she didn’t feel good she wanted to celebrate so a bunch of us went to Pizza Hut for lunch and Jennifer took her to a dress shop where they make you a dress from scratch and shes doing it, Macie Marie is getting a dress from China for her next formal.  She also plans to spend her summers in Kentucky with her new additional family.  No joke!!  Anyway, it was so amazing to watch her describe how she’s seeing more.

Unfortunately, she has been very sick since the last spinal, so we are going on 2 days of lying in bed and no relief yet.  I’m relly upset with how this is going in terms of consistency.   Nothing is consistent, I never in a million years would have expected any hospital to be so random.  I was so stupid to think that, but the stemcells are working and Macie is happy so that makes it a little easier to take in.  I’m sure the staff has me on their poopoo list at this point because I caused a bit of a scene the other day in the lobby with the doctors but I get upset when I don’t understand certain things.  I will say that they were great, handled everything fine and assured me that it wouldn’t happen again and I know in my heart that they mean it and that they are doing their best.  They want this to work as much as I do, its just that we are very used to America and how its done and even though we shouldn’t compare its hard not to.  Sorry this is so long it’s midnight and I’m babbeling along.  Goodnight and thank you for all the prayers and support.  It’s working…Macie is improving and for that I am forever gratful.

Love Shel

Macie, So sorry that you were so sick after your last injection. It’s probably due to them not running an IV to keep you hydrated during the process. I hope you’re feeling much better. So awesome that you can see more that was exciting news!!!! I checked over the weekend, but have been getting off so late by time I get home I hadn’t checked. I’m still at work right now and it’s 7:30 our time, but I’m headed home. Grandpa has dinner fixed he said. It’s his old standby “Spaghetti” :-) That’s what he always fixed for your dad and his brothers when I was gone. :-) Will check later to see how you’re doing. Love & lots of hugs, Grandma & for Grandpa Frank too.

    Hi guys,
Sorry to hear about all the pokes. I know my veins are hard to find and they told me at PVH to make sure and drink alot of water before I get poked and that helps with keeping the veins hydrated and easier to find. Not sure if you guys are already doing that, but I wanted to make sure to pass it along because I know that it’s no fun being a pin cushion.

We are all thinking and praying for you guys.

    Hello Dear Macie,

We have never me met and most likely you have no idea who I am. But I feel I know you a little because I have followed you, your story and your progress though my Sister Susie. Susie has been kind enough to keep me up to date on your progress and then tonight I came here to see what this was all about. I wish I had come here sooner. I am so happy to hear of your great progress. I am sorry it has been so hard on you; God knows you have been through enough already. But when it is all done, you will forget all about the bad parts and remember all the good stuff. The great new friends, the strange, but in certain ways a very beautiful country and people, the weird food, or it was weird when I was there. You are a pretty special lady Macie and I know there are a lot of people, friends and family and those of us just watching and wishing and praying for the very best for you along with your friends and family. You have an exciting future ahead of you Macie and I pray with all my heart this experience you are going through now makes it even better.

Perhaps some day we will meet. I would like that very much. By the way my name is Mike Evans.

I will be returning to China in late October. I can hardly wait. I will be in the province of Guangxi, in the city of Liuzhou. The province is pronounced Guan Chi and the city is pronounced Leo Joe. I will also travel to Beijing and Hong Kong. In Chinese Hong Kong is pronounced She Ong Kong. The Chinese spell even worse than I do.

Well I had better let you go now. Take care and I hope things go better for you from now on. You will be home before you know it. You are in all our prayers.

    Sincerely,

    Mike

This is amazing! You have to have faith. Remember all the changes we saw in Jeff. Yours are coming, they just take more time!
You can always come visit us in Alabama too!!

  6. One of the comments is that they are very stiff soled and hard to walk in. It is certainly true that the soles are a bit stiff and do not bend easily. Since I dont do that much walking in them I can put up with the stiffness aside from that I do like them and find them comforting…..
