7 October, 2008 – not even remotely funny entry

October 8th, 2008

Another one of those “time for an update but don’t really have much to say” entries.

Anyway, now I can do my “walk” in 9 steps every time I do it. It’s hard work and requires a lot of concentration on my part but if I focus it’s relatively easy – well consistently possible – for me to do. I still don’t think I could possibly do it with any less steps than 9 – whilst needing frame for walking anyway – but I am, though, pleased with the progress of needing 22 steps to do the same distance in March to being able to do it in 9 steps now.

My physio suggested I soon try another, more “advanced”, type of frame for walking as she feels my balance has improved enough for that and says that she needs to support me less when walking.

Last week in the gym I “rowed” 890 metres in 7 minutes.

Using the metronome I can now do the index finger to nose tip exercise at 66 beats per minute and turning hands at 168 beats per minute.

Am going back to England on 19 October for more HBO treatment. This time for three weeks.

    Dear Marianne,

it is SO good to reed your blog. When I see you I often forget to ask you how it is going.

Even though you might not think that any miracle has happened, you are still able to do a lot more than before you went to China. I remember beeing out there with you, from when I first got there, to when we left again, the developement that had happened. You were suddently able to stand on your own for about 5 minutes…when I got there you just didn’t!!…-not to mention the currage to put oneself into a china-cap and pray to to-what ever- to still be alive at the end of the trip!!! Even though that last experience was a little…well..alternative…I somehow never really told you how much I appreciated to bee there with you. Thankyou for taking me with you to China…for me that was a little miracle on its own…I just ask: when else would the two of us have taken a taxi together in Asia!?

Now you have even taken your steps down from 22 to 9. I really admire all your strength and braveness. Seeing how hard work you did in China and knowing all the hard work you do now, it hasn’t been useless.

All the best to you and Al in London,

    Birgitte
