I Just read your last post, my son who has Spino Cerebellar Ataxia Type 7 arrived in China a week ago with his mother. I'm encouraged by your comments. You mentioned HBO treatments, is that hyperbaric treatment ? If so do you recommend it, my son has lost much of his vision due to the SCA and anything we can do we will. You can read his blog on the stemcellschina web his name is Nate under ataxia.
Thanks
Doug

Dear Marianne,

it is SO good to reed your blog. When I see you I often forget to ask you how it is going.

Even though you might not think that any miracle has happened, you are still able to do a lot more than before you went to China. I remember beeing out there with you, from when I first got there, to when we left again, the developement that had happened. You were suddently able to stand on your own for about 5 minutes...when I got there you just didn't!!...-not to mention the currage to put oneself into a china-cap and pray to to-what ever- to still be alive at the end of the trip!!! Even though that last experience was a little...well..alternative...I somehow never really told you how much I appreciated to bee there with you. Thankyou for taking me with you to China...for me that was a little miracle on its own...I just ask: when else would the two of us have taken a taxi together in Asia!?

Now you have even taken your steps down from 22 to 9. I really admire all your strength and braveness. Seeing how hard work you did in China and knowing all the hard work you do now, it hasn't been useless.

All the best to you and Al in London,

Birgitte

Hi Marianne and family

I'm glad to hear that you are experiencing some improvement, although slowly. And was very amused by the description of Nicholas' birthday party - you must have had to rely on all of your patience-reserves to get through that. :) Personally I am relying on those of my own right now, as I am temporarily teaching a class of chineese students in business english, at the local business college. When asking them what they want for their future, job-wise, they all said something like "go China have nice job". Fine....I can work with that.....sure...! Am thinking about you and wishing you further strength.

Hugs from Ida

Have a good trip home, Marianne, to a chilly, rainy DK, where spring has suddenly become coy and hidden itself. It's probably waiting for you to come home. Enjoy your last day saying goodbye to all the friends you have undoubtedly made there, I'm sure "that gorgeous blonde with the wobbly legs" will long be remembered :-)

Stine & Karsten
