Howdy y’all,
Snow. We’ve been able to witness this amazing weather for over a week now. Apparently it hasn’t snowed this much here for over ten years, it looks unbelievable from my room. Apart from the icy roads there hasn’t been too many problems in Hangzhou unlike elsewhere in China. I have a bunch of photos of the snow but they won’t post for some reason. I’ll keep trying.
The weather has really cleared up since Monday so on Thursday Dad, Drew and I went to the hotel restaurant for some real food and then went for a walk (roll) around the area. Most places were closed because of Chinese New Year but it didn’t matter, it was good just to go outside…fresh air, snow. It was great. Tomorrow we are going into the city to see the sites and go shopping. It should be interesting, we are taking our cameras so I’ll post some tomorrow. This last week most of the floor was sick with some virus but I managed to avoid it. Dad was crook for a few days but he is back fitter than ever.
The floor is really quiet at the moment as most people have gone home and a lot of the staff have gone home for the holidays. It’s been an amazing coming over here and experiencing a new world. The people that have come here for treatment are all really positive. I really hope that the treatment works for every one of them.
I had my final stem cell treatment on Monday. I have a feeling that one will make the difference.
See you soon,
Matt

Hi Everyone,
Had my 4th stem cell treatment on Monday. Everytime I have one it feels like I’ve been given a dose of adrenaline cause my body and brain go into overdrive, it’s a cool experience. Time in physio is really starting to show results with my seating balance on the gym equipment and it feels like I’m improving in most of the strength and flexibility exercises also.
Deb and Shane just said farewell. Sad to see them go, been an amazing last few weeks with both of them. They both made it possible for me to come here and I will never forget it, from the bottom of my heart thanks to both of you.
Here’s the view after a small blizzard on Monday.

Happy Australia Day!
Firstly Thankyou to everyone for their kind messages.
It’s my day off today (Sunday). The last week has been good, busy but good. I saw snow for the first time earlier this week, needless to say it’s freezing outside. I’ve now had 3 stem cell treatments, the most recent one I had was on Wednesday and I have 3 more to go. I haven’t noticed any more movement yet but my temperature regulator is working better, which means I’m not cold all the time. I’ve been told that it is usually 2-4 months until the stem cells start working so it’s exciting to see results already. The only bad news is the hospital said no drinking for 6 months…meh, no biggy.
It’s is great having Deb and my older brother here, could not have done it without them. It’s was fun bickering with a different family member than normal, then joking with Deb when we get bored with that. Captain W (Dad) arrived on Thursday so now we are all on our best behaviour
My helper Mr Lil has been teaching me Chinese and since dad got here Mr Lil has been treating Dad like royalty. Bad news for Shane who has been relagated to mere human and head chef.
Have to go, George from Tasmania is having a farewell but here is the view from my room.

Hi everyone,
Finally got around to writing a blog.
Since we landed things have been pretty busy. The first day was pretty much all tests and a tour of the floor which I must say is pretty flash, I have my own room with two beds, TV, bathroom etc.
Since then my days have consisted of a couple of hours of physio, time in a standing machine, electrical muscle stim, lunch, acupuncture, laps of the floor, dinner, sleep… and repeat.
I have had two stem cell treatments so far. The first one was an injection into my spine and after I had it I had to lie still for six hours and the second one was in IV injection of stem cells. It looks like the darn things may just be working too. Ever since I’ve had them I have got a lot more control in my arms, more balance and increased feeling in my hands. It looks like my right tricep may be working too…HIGH FIVE!
Since we have been here the doctors and nurses have been amazing, especially considering we don’t speak a word of Chinese. Luckily for us about 80% of the people that work on this floor speak English quite well, although I get the feeling their English may not be that good because they don’t laugh at my jokes, which are obviously hilarious.
It’s hard not to be inspired staying here with all the other patients. Everyone here has the same never give up attitude no matter what their situation. I would recommend the tip to anyone who could be helped by the treatment.
