Francis & Nut…

Well, just under two weeks left… Things have been going well. I must say I feel so much better, health wise, than when I first came. I feel like I have more strength and energy. I can’t wait for more improvement but am thankful for each little bit I notice…
Not much really happened today. Had my usual treatments, with the exception of acupuncture. Haven’t been out of bed since Francis left so this afternoon I finally got them to get me up in the wheelchair for a while. I went over to Chris’ room for a visit. Just feels better to get up for a bit than always stay in that bed!
Everyone has been good to me… Don’t worry, I’m not giving them toooo much trouble! LOL… In fact, Lucy has decided she want to come back to America with me! We figured all we needed to do was get a suit-case, some rice and water and she’d be set to go! Well, maybe a passport and visa…
Well, hope you all had a good day. Miss you all… Can’t wait to be back. Good night, Nut

Good evening! Well, it’s about 10:30 Friday night here… just about to complete another day! Today I received my first stem cells via the IV route. All my other stem cells have been injections. They say the IV route helps with more overall improvement… I’m hoping it should help me to be able to cough better. One thing nice about it is you don’t have to lie flat for the four hours while fasting! I was able to sit up, watch TV, and eat… I also recieved my usual treatments today and once again I was able to feel ALL the acupuncture needles!
Things are going pretty good with Chicken Little… Every time I woke up last night he seemed to be just sitting there watching TV or starring at me! Then at one point he was once again tapping me on the forehead and showing me a wash cloth - but this time at some crazy hour in the middle of the night! I was like, “go to sleep….” But all in all things are going well. He does make sure to take good care of me. The chart is working pretty good.
Lucy (translator) spent a couple of hours in the room with me this afternoon talking. She speaks English pretty good. Told her she was the best looking Chinese girl I had seen and she turned all red and left the room for a while!!! lol… It’s the truth though! Was nice to have someone to visit with for awhile.
Chris got his stem cell injection today around 4pm so he had to lie flat for 4 hours or so. They rolled my bed down the hall to his room where we spent the evening visiting and watching some movies together. (He is 20 years old. Had a 4-wheeler accident.)
Well, guess I’m going to turn in here… Hope you all have a good day. Miss you all and can’t wait to be back! Good night, Nut

At the end of another day… Things are going pretty smoothly here since Francis left. I have ended up staying in my room at night but the family from TN has joined me for supper the last two nights. It’s nice to have someone to speak a little English with! Tonight we ordered pizza hut again…
Not much new today. Had my usual treatments, PT, acupuncture… Really felt the needles once again. It was a good thing Chicken Little was holding me or I think I would have landed on my back with the needles going a little farther in! I tried to get Chicken Little to take a picture of the acupuncture today – was that a job or what! Francis made this chart that is on the wall with English and Chinese on it – you say the number, etc. Well, I kept saying “12, 12″ which reads “picture” but he kept telling me I couldn’t sit up!!! Well, after about 15 minutes and with the help of the charge nurse we finally got a picture! LOL
Lisa (Chris’ mom) went shoping today and got a few things for me. They have been very nice and are watching out for me. Chicken Little has kept up the routine… Woke up this morning to him tapping on my head and showing me a wash cloth… I just said “yes.” Easier to just agree with him!!! LOL. Would rather have woke up to Francis tho!
Was so good to hear from each one of you. Will keep you posted. Miss you all… Till later, Nut

Good morning everyone! This is Francis… Well, I made it safely back to the States. Right now it’s about 5 AM and I can’t seem to sleep. Just wanted to let you all know how much I appreciated all your prayers and thoughts while I was in China with Nut. He has a very special group of support people praying and thinking of him.
Like you all, I can’t wait to see the improvements Nut makes over the coming months. The little changes we noticed were exciting and I know he will continue to see bigger ones. Like we have stated in the previous blogs Nut seems to have more feeling down his back, especially with the acupuncture. He is feeling more of the needles and feels pressure. Another thing he noticed is an increase in his energy level. I know he can’t wait to be up and about with you all!
Before I left we had things worked out to where Nut should be spending most to the nights and part to the day in the other Chris’ room. They are a very nice family and have promised to keep a watch over him for us all. (We’ll have to see how it all works out…) Also I made this sign that is posted on the wall next to Nut’s bed… It has little phrases and words written in English with its corresponding Chinese characters next to it. Chicken Little can count in English so Nut says a number and Chicken Little can read what he needs. They practiced it the day before I left – and I think it will work, at least better than no communication!
Went shopping Monday and made sure he has some food in the cabinet, at least Snickers bars and Oreos!!! LOL. Chris’ family is going to do any further shopping he needs. Anyway, guess I am saying all this to let you know Nut should be fine till he returns. I know it will be an adjustment for him but he’ll make it… Things are in a routine now, so at least he knows what to expect. I have only been gone a day and already I miss him!!! Nut has a way of growing in your heart, doesn’t he?
Well, once again thank you all for your prayers and support. We will continue to keep you posted on this blog. Nut so looks forward to hearing from each one of you every day… Hope to meet you all someday! God bless, Francis
PS. Like you said Crispin, I’ll have to remember to choose Paris if I ever run for a political office!!! LOL (-;

Good afternoon! Well, It is about 3 o’clock and I just finished my PT and acupuncture. Wow, I could really feel the needles and electricity today! Like you all, this is the first time I think feeling needles has been a good thing! LOL…
This morning we woke up to the sound of Chicken Little singing… told Francis he sounded in a pretty good mood seeing she was leaving! LOL… She left for the airport a little after 10 o’clock with Lucy the translator. She ended up almost missing her flight because her ticket had Francis spelled with an e instead of an i! They were going to make her buy a new ticket or wait until the US could change the name. Last minute they ran her through security, not even checking in her bags, and boarded the plane. She called from Bejing where she is waiting for her next flight. It will sure be different here without her but I think it will work out now that everything is in a routine.
Well, I have 4 more stem cell injections left. My next one is due on Friday. Thankfully I have not been feeling any side effects of headache, etc. One thing I have really noticed is that I feel like I have a lot more energy – now I just can’t wait to get up and use it!!!
Thank you all for your comments and the poem… Look forward to hearing from you all. See you all soon. Till later, NUT

Well, just about to the end of another day… Right now I am in the “common room” working on the computer. The internet works alot faster out here. I am working on posting a few pictures on my myspace of China.
This evening I got up in the wheelchair for a while to take some Christmas pictures. (will post them a little closer to Christmas) Chicken Little is resting in the room anxiously waiting on me to come back… Guess the real adventure starts tomorrow – Francis heads back to the States… It saddens me that she is leaving because I have grown close to her being around and helping me out. I just want you all to know that no one could have picked a better person to come a long and take care of me. She has been there every step of the way. Not so sure if Chicken Little is going to miss her or not because now he can do with me what he wants!!! LOL
We will continue to keep you posted on this blog… Look forward to hearing from each one of you and seeing you soon. Good night, Nut

Good morning everyone! How’s it going? Well, it’s about 10:30 here and I just finished my PT and am in the middle of getting a massage… This is the first Chinese massage I have gotten. The guy comes to your room and does it. Feels pretty good! I have been getting some more feeling down my back… can tell because it hurts! Can’t wait till that stops! But would rather feel some pain right now than nothing at all…
Took it pretty easy yesterday. Wasn’t allowed to do anything due to getting the injection. Mainly napped and watched movies. Oh, and we had Pizza Hut last night – one of the best things I have had so far! lol…
Well, I’m going to go for now. Will try to write again later. Hope you all have a great night. Can’t wait to see you all and party! Miss ya, Nut

Good afternoon everyone! Hope all is well with each one of you… Well, today I got the bone marrow injection done around 10:30 this morning. I don’t have anyother treatments today because of the injection. Didn’t really notice anything different today… Just finished my “time” – the four hours flat. Feels so much better to be sitting up!
Yesterday, after I wrote, I spent some time going through like 4,000 songs we down loaded from one of the Chinese translators. They are all American artists from Rock, Country, Metal, Alternative, etc. After that we headed over to Chris’ room for “party” time…lol – actually to watch some movies and visit.
Today they finally got someone to come and fix the wireless internet, was about time! So you should see some more pictures. Don’t worry, I don’t think I have lost any weight and my beard is looking great!!!
Well, not really much to talk about for today… So I guess I will go for now. Miss you all! Can’t wait to be back… Till later, NUT
