Hello everyone,
Ive not blogged for a couple of days because there’s not a lot to tell.
Jack’s been in a good mood. Andy went downtown Hangzhou on Thursday night but wasn’t impressed much. He went to the markets but didn’t get much. He wasn’t feeling well actually before he went ,it was still very hot at 7pm and the smell of some of the food being cooked on the street was – to be polite -not nice! “Stinky toe food” Zach called it, who took Andy. Andy said there was just a load of tat there, but we all know what men are like shopping!
We took a taxi ride on Friday morning to Westlake, a lovely large lake, which we drove around. It was packed with tourists all the way round and our taxi driver kept stopping to point out famous things which he thought we should know. He only spoke in chinese though so we had no idea what he was saying! I felt like a typical tourist sat in the back saying “ah yes”.
Andy kept saying “temple?” occasionally, and Mr Lee (the driver) just nodded back “Yes!” The only site we understood was “The Shangri-la” as we passed the hotel. I thought that Jack would like the taxi ride too, but he was as stiff as a board on the half hour trip there and wouldn’t relax at all! He did settle down eventually. We didn’t get out to walk round which would have been lovely if it was a tad cooler, but Mr. Lee kept stopping and telling Andy to get out and take a picture at various spots on the way round. That was funny because Andy didn’t really want to and so the camera had a lot of random pictures of lake, tourists, boats and temples and sometimes he had no idea what Mr. Lee had stopped for! It kept Mr. Lee happy.
A few people have gone home and new ones arrived. We got talking to a lady with her ten year old son with C.P. from Hungary. She has been here with him in January and carried on with the physio therapy that they did to him here, (quite robustly by all accounts!) when they got back. After two months he was able to stand up with a walker, which prior to stem cells he had just shuffled on the floor. He’s here now walking round and round with his walker (slowly of course). His mum pushes him really hard and he doesn’t always want to do it but it’s working. He gave us a quick “phew” with his arm across his forehead in jest, as we passed by him. Lol.
There was another thunderstorm and lightening display last night. It wasn’t as close as the one we had last week though, I thought the rain was going to damage something it was coming down so hard on the windows! I couldn’t believe Jack had gone to sleep with all the noise!
Jack has his next stem cells by IV tomorrow, we don’t know what time, because we haven’t been given our time sheet for next week yet. This will be interesting because everyone having their IV sit in a room together and have it done. That might put Jack off a bit so I might ask if he can have it in our room seeing as we are exactly opposite. Then he gets another spinal injection on Friday. I hope they do something different with his physio session this week. They have standing beds which I’ve asked if we can put him in, as he loves being in his standing frame at home. Daisey said yes Monday, so he should like that (hopefully!)
I must go feed the boy now! While I remember, if you ARE coming here you CAN get spagetti, oh and Andy says to say bring plenty of deodrant because that’s not on the shelves!! (He knows, he’s run out and using my spare)
We’ve just been given next weeks rota, yes, he has physio AND standing therapy then electric wave therapy.Good.
Must go .
Love to everyone
Jane, Andy and Jack
ps i keep trying to upload pictures – ill try one now
