Shenyang Sunday

Well, it’s Sunday 7th and we’ve been celebrating our 46th Wedding Anniversary, and in style! We with some friends from this floor went out to have lunch at the Sheraton Hotel. Another very swish, very expensive venue! But the meal was beautiful and we celebrated not only our anniversary, but Canada’s Thanksgiving Day as well. We had some Canadians with us, Lorn, his son Brad and his daughter Stephanie. Unfortunately Brad was suffering from a spinal headache, having had his spinal injection yesterday. The rest of us tho, Phil & Roz from the Gold Coast, Michael, Marta and Marla from Kansas City and Dale from Savannah had a really good time. It is a bit different tho, as people had to peel off at certain times to return to the hospital for Physical Therapy. We were lucky, as mine wasn’t until 4.15 so we could linger.

Thank you Rich for your welcome txt message this morning.

I didn’t go to acupuncture this morning as my back and legs were sore from yesterday’s treatment. We found out from Tony that you could give it (and any other treatment) a miss if you didn’t feel up to it. I don’t think they’ll let you skip the stem cells tho. The closer it gets the more nervous I feel, but by this time tomorrow, I hope the first treatment will be over and any improvement can begin. Tho, if they jab needles into your back the same way they jab them into your body with the acupuncture, I’ll be asking for i.v. treatments only!!

Today is a lovely day, but with a bit of a sharp wind. Sun is shining tho and we have taken advantage of that. Will be in touch again when we have something to report about the stem cells.

First Chance to Blog from Shenyang

Well everyone, – Here we are! Sorry its been so long, I’ll go into the details later. We had a very emotional farewell from Adelaide, with Mum, Carolyn, David, Connor, Isabelle, Emma & Ryan. Thank you all. Good flight to Hong Kong, stayed o/night in the Novotel (very swish, very expensive!) Next day on to Shenyang. Still feeling very nervous. Good flight again. Met at airport by Lucy from Beike. Very nice young lady. Took us to the hospsital and to our home for the next month. Well, I’m glad we’ve travelled a bit! It is like a NHS hospital from the 50′s. But, we do have a private room, a private bathroom and a view of the canal! All the staff are very nice and helpful and we now have a

Well hello everyone! We’ re starting off on the biggest adventure we have had. Off to Shenyang to receive stem cell treatment to try and help Shelagh’s ALS. Both a bit nervous as departure time approaches. We will be in Shenyang on Tuesday evening after a two day journey from our home in Adelaide, Australia.

We will see how things work out from there!
