LUMBAR STEM CELL OVER-1ST TREATMENT

July 17th, 2008

WELL, THE FIRST STEM CELL TREATMENT IS OVER…THE ACTUAL PAIN OF THE TREATMENT WAS NOT BAD. THEY GAVE ME DIAZOPAN BY IV AND IT PUT ME TO SLEEP. WHEN I WAS AWAKENED IT WAS OVER. FELT A LITTLE PAIN WITH THE INJECTION. THEN, WHEELED BACK TO MY ROOM FOR THE 6 HOUR LAYING ON YOUR BACK WITHOUT RAISING YOUR HEAD. WELL, THIS WASN’T NICE. BOTH ARMS FROM MY FINGERS TO MY ELBOWS STARTED TO HURT, AND I MEAN HURT. MARILYN MY WIFE WORKED ON MASSAGING BOTH ARMS FOR HOURS WITH TEARS IN MY EYES. THANK G-D FOR HER. THEN, HOURS 4 AND 5 THEY LET A MASSEUS MASSAGE ME FOR TWO HOURS. MAJOR PAIN. THEY THEN LET ME RISE AFTER ABOUT 5 HOURS AND 45 MINUTES. MY BACK HURT QUITE A BIT FROM LAYING ON MY BACK, ON THE MATTRESS WITH NO PILLOW. THIS MORNING STARTS WITH THE ELECTRIC WAVE THERAPY AND ACUPUNCTURE AGAIN. MAIN THING, SURVIVED ROUND ONE. I’LL KEEP YOU POSTED.

LOVE

SHELLY

    Hi Shelly & Marilyn,

This is the first time I have “blogged” – I guess it can be a verb – not sure. It must have been a grueling trip to China with all of the apprehension and paraphernalia. Jet lag is hard enough to put up with without feeling sick and anxious too. I’m so glad to hear that the first lumbar tap is over. So much of the fear was of the unknown. At least now you know what to expect. Sorry your arms hurt so much – think of it as the “medicine” working. And yikes! A restaurant with live snakes! I thought I was doing well to sample octopus (dead) in Greece last week. You both have a lot of courage. I am praying that the Dear Lord will grant you both strength and a successful treatment. You deserve it. Keep the faith.

    Love,
    Sue

I hate to hear that you are banged up, Shell. I wish I could absorb some of that pain for you. Best wishes.

Keep that body waking up!The acupuncture hurts, great news to all of us. Remember, you can not argue with 300 years experience. Good luck on the spinal tomorrow. Our family[Shannon, Donna, Bailey, and Morgan], left at 3 today. They expect to be in Vegas by Saturday. Shel, when are you and Marilyn going to visit them in Vegas? We hope soon after your successful trip. Great to hear that Marilyn feels better. I want to thank you 2 again for having such great kids that have been such great friends to Shannon and Luis. Gina and PJ have been there for them all the time. Thank You! Love and prayers Donna and Jim OConnell
