I really dont want to put up unnecessary hopes for others with similar conditions. It is about faith and that is what I AM EXPERIENCING right now. Shirdesh actually sees. Yes he does see and he says what he sees.Truely, truely. I tried putting a video clip here but it is too big and it rejects this. I just dont know how to put this in another way. I have been silent about this but I cannot express this feeling. The kid is unbelievable and absolutely intellegent. 360 degrees turn about in the family and an absolute bundle of joy. The little bugger has surprised us all.. A very pleasent surprise I may add. Not getting too excited here. It is now 2 years Shirdesh is starting to show better improvements. I have the video clippings and you are going to be shocked, like the people at Beike Biotech. I want to talk to Dr Brothers from the US for guidence on this. Visually impaired? – yes. Can focus? – yes. Dont respond here, rather email me at jeevansingh@telkomsa.net
Take care and look after yourself with LOVE.

Hi all. Sorry for not updating you further about Shirdesh as really there is nothing further I can add since my last update.
Since he started talking, it is becoming apparent that he actually does see, but again, very little. Three things were placed in front of him. a book, the cel phone and my fingers. He was told what they were in this order. So i juggled this around several times to confuse him and he got it right each time. The other amazing thing was I moved my fingers about and he asked me to stop moving my fingers which confirms he possibably also sees some movement. It must be noted that he is still visually impaired despite all of this but we are happy with the little we have. GOD has been GOOD. We are considering additional treatment but I think we are going to wait a little longer on this.
GOD bless

I know it has been sometime now I have not updated the blog as there was nothing really to talk about in terms of further improvments. Ok we did not remove the cataract. The scarring in the one eye appears to have vanished. I dont know if the stem cells had anything to do with this. However his vision appears to be stronger but nothing significant. Just little things like knowing the phograps on the walls by name, our dog, the outbuilding, and such things. He walks about very freely though. We are still monitoring him for further improvment. As soon as I have something constructive in terms of improvment I will update this immediately.

Hi
Ok Shirdesh now talks a little. Not in sentences though. He is learning words and is battling to make them into sentences. He understands when you tell him stuff like ” go to the kitchen baby” he gets up and walks straight to the kitchen. He now knows all the bedrooms in the house and who they belong to. My son who works and lives in Johannesburg came home over the easter weekend and left to go back to Johannesburg soon thereafter. Shirdesh did not know he had left early that morning. We all were sitting in the lounge that morning. Shirdesh walked from the lounge and straight to the entrance of his bedroom and called out his name for the first time. The room ofcourse was in darkness so he could not see clearly in the room but the amazing thing here was he was looking into the room inquisitively as if trying to see where my son is in the bedroom. Satisfied that he was not there he walks straght back into the lounge, sits on the sofa and watches the TV. Just stares at the tv. How much he is seeing on TV, we dont know.
I have 2 recent video clippings of him which are real shockers. If you want to see them you can email me. I will glady send you these. email address is jeevansingh@telkomsa.net
The first clipping – my wife holds a piece of paper in her hand in front of him. He sees it but pays no attention to it. My wife then asks him “what is this baby” He just smiles. He continues to smile and laugh and when my wife repeats her words ” what is this baby”, he looked at the piece of paper in her hand and says ” PAPER”
The 2nd clipping – I sway my body in a funny way and asks him to do the same. He sees me do this but pays no attention initially because he has a piece of paper in his hand and concentrates on this paper. I try to get his attention to imitate me and after his mother says to him ” DO BABY DO ” He sees what I am doing and belive me he actually tries to also sway his body in a funny way. I almost fainted.
“Seeing is believeing” and these 2 clippings is a must see. Again, If you want them I have got them. Email me if you want them.
I will update the blog again once I observe further constructive mprovement with Shirdesh. We still have another 7 mths to go before he levels up with his vision and we continue to observe baby Shirdesh.
I want this to be a breakthrough, not only for Shirdesh but also for the sake of all of GOD’S children out there who so desperately needs THE GIFT OF SIGHT” and my prayers are to GOD is to please make this miracle happen for their sake also.
To all those wonderful parents out there, Your child is a divine gift from GOD. Do not be saddened with their condition. Love them with all your heart, soul and mind. Hug them as much as you possiblably can. This is what GOD wants you to do. Your child will feel this love and a sense of belonging and know he/she is wanted, at the same time God will ease your pain also. Try it after you have read this note and tell me if I am wrong.
God bless

Hi all
I know I have not given you any news since our return from China regarding Baby Shirdesh. As i said previousely, the doctors in China did tell us that improvement will be gradual taking up to between 6 to 12 months. Therefore we are still observing Shirdesh.
Now we do have some improvements. again I must emphasise it is very minimal.
This is what he does now. If you shake your head in a “YES” gesture. He actually immitates this. If you do something funny standing in front of him like swaying your body in a standstill position, he immitates this also. He loves travelling and when you take him into the yard and he sees the vehicle he calls out ” car “. He now sees more objects. Yes we believe he is gradually improving. He is starting to talk a little and hopefully very soon, will be able to tell us how much he is really seeing.
When there is more improvements we will again update the blog.
I am the granfather, Thashni my daughter-in-law , my son Veesahan and Shirdesh live with me. This update was done by both by Thashni and myself.
My email address is jeevansingh@telkomsa.net. Should you wish for more information you may email me at the above email address.
God bless all the chilrden of the world also.

We have finally arrived home. China was quite an experience. All is well including baby Shirdesh. We now have to monitor baby’s progress from here on. As he progresses we will advise everybody. If anybody has questions regarding baby Shirdesh our email address is jeevansingh@telkomsa.net. Nevertheless we will update his progress from time to time as we go along.
Once again thanks to everybody for making all this possible for baby Shirdesh.
Kind regards

2008/11/12. Todays was baby’s final treatment done via IV through his leg. This was painful. Nothing much to report here except that the required norm of stem cells are now in his body. We have to watch for further improvement which we believe will come about by the multiplication of the stem cells in his body. The doctor had said in one of his earlier treatment , that proteins play a huge part in the multiplication process and has strongly remmmended that his diet be restricted to food such as milk, meat, fish and any other meals of high protein content.
The Singh family once again would like to thank all the people back home, who have contributed in making all this possible.
This proves that when humanity comes together , irrespective of religion, colour, creed or caste, GOD listens to all of them and no particular religion can be singled out. Baby Shirdesh, is evidence of their prayers just being answerred.
When we are back home, we in partnership with the RISING SUN NEWSPAPERS are sure to update the public from time to time on Baby Shirdesh’s progress.
God Bless all

09/11/2008 Ground breaking news.
Shirdesh is making huge progress daily. He is gradually identifying objects and is now reaching out for them. Just yesterday he held the banana in is his hand and said ” banana”. This the the type of progress he is making. He appears to be gaining confidence in himself and moves around more freely looking around at objects with more curiosity. His eyes has stopped rolling. He is gaining focus in his eyes.
A leading Beike Biotec agent with two of her associates called in at the ward and were amazed at the progress Shirdesh is making. One agent’s words were ” I am shocked, I cannot believe what I am seeing” said Stanley, one of the agents.
We had a lenthy discussion with Karen the leading agent (all on camera) who is one of the team member who assesses cases for acceptance of stem cell treatments and she has confirmed that this is a major breakthrough for all children around the world suffering with R.O.P conditions. There is now hope for all children with this condition.
She has further recommended that children with R.O.P conditions can now submit their cases to them for assessment.
Should you wish to know more about this miracle, you are at liberty to update the comments section of this blog. I will respond as best as I can.
GOD’S MIRACLE HAS HAPPENNED.
God Bless all

07/11/2008, 9.30 am Baby Shirdesh was taken from his ward by the doctors and nurses for his 4th treatment via lumber puncture to another building as perviousely mentioned. This process took about approximately 2 hrs. While waiting in the rest room we met another family from Hungary also waiting for their child’s stem cells treatment to be completed. A condition of Cerebal Palsey. He is a boy of approximately 6 years of age and when he came out of theatre my heart just sank to see him in this condition. It made me realise what parents go through for their loved ones. He was accompanied by his mum and grandmom and at that moment made me also realise how fortunate and thankful to God I am to have with me Shirdesh’s grandparents who have been a pillar of strenth to me from inception of baby’s condition.
I am also thankful to a lot of other people who have contrIbuted towards baby’s treatment in China. The South African people in general, all religious organizations, family and friends, the minister of sports and recreation, MR RAJBANSI and not forgetting our main contrubuter and partner to this initiative THE RISING SUN GROUP OF NEWSPAPERS OF SOUTH AFRICA. All what has been achieved would not have been possible without these wonderful people. To Vijay, Shireen, Claudie and team of THE RISING SUN NEWSPAPERS, you are the unsung heroes of this iniative and a special thank you for all the hard work in making all this possible. To Mr RAJbansi and all councillors of the MINORITY FRONT of South Africa. You too have played an important part in Baby Shirdesh’s trip to China. We are ever greatefull to you for all your contributions and your efforts in making all this possible. We hope by your involment, the Government of South Africa take note of the enormous possibilites of what stem cell treatments can offer our people in South Africa for their sicknesses.
Baby Shirdesh, being the first baby in the world who is undergoing this treatment, is still in the experimental stages for now and we still have a long way to go in terms of his vision. He is being closely watched and closely monitored by these superb doctors and nurses In China. The signs of vision are there and the doctors have confirmed this but I must reiterate it is very minimal. So we just have to wait for the mutiplication of the stem cells in his body to take effect and enhance his full vision. We were told very clearly by the head doctor on stem cells, that recovery will be very gradual. Therefore we are still on our knees in prayer.
His final treatment is scheduled for next week Wednesday 15/11/2008. The blog will be updated accordingly.
Love to all in South Africa.

I just want to make a few things clear in respect of yesteday’s blog. With all the excitement I was not too clear in the conclusion to the blog yesterday. The doctor has thus far confirmed that stem cells are working in baby Shirdesh’s case. We saw the improvement in him. He has also confirmed this and advised that his progress will be gradual. At this point in time we do not know exactly how much vision he has.
He has a few more treatments still to go and we believe that these treatments can only enhance his vision even more. We just have to wait and see.
Once the treatments are completed, further eye tests still has to be done back home by our doctor. We had done an eye test before we left South Africa, we have to do another when we get back. This will determine to what extent baby has recoverred in terms of his vision. We understand that we are to continue these tests over a period of 12 months. The stems cells in his body multiplies and by so doing, helps to increase his vision.
Therefore we still have a long way to go yet with baby Shirdesh and we are still on our knees in prayer.
The next treatment is scheduled for Friday 07/11/08. I will update the blog thereafter.
Love to all in South Africa.
