Hello South Africa

29/10/08 9am. Baby Shirdesh was taken from his ward to the 3rd floor of another building adjacent to the building where he is housed. This building is where all the high tec equipment is stored. The 3rd floor is called the STEM CEL THERAPY CENTER. Nobody except one of the parent’s are allowed in this department which is always under lock and key. Accompanied by the doctors and nurses I took baby into this department for one of  2  treatments via lumber puncture.  This lasted a period of approximately a hour and a half after which baby was taken back to his rooms to rest. Once again I must say the doctors and nurses were fantastic in the manner they handled baby Shirdesh.

Unfortunately I am unable to provide any photos due to certain hiccups. I will ensure that the next treatment will be updated with photos. Date of next treatment still to be determined.

Hello from China

Hi Everybody

We arrived in China on 20/10/08 and stayed in a hotel in the city of of  Shijiazhuang for 2 days.  On 22/10/2008 we were taken to the Bethune International peace hospital where baby Shirdesh is scheduled to undergo stem celL treatments for his condition (rop). We had a very warm welcoming reception by the staff of the hospital who to took us to our apartment in the hospital, which is absolutely magnificient. Later during the day, baby Shiredesh underwent an eye examination. The next day 23/10/08  several blood tests were perfomed on baby to ensure that he was in the best of health before undergoing his first treatment, scheduled for 24/10/08.  These were very painfull and baby did not take these extractions well.

24/10/08 at 9.30 am, It had begun. Baby shirdesh underwent his first stem cell treatment through IV. A team of 3 doctors and 9 nurses were present to ensure the proceedure was conducted without any hitches. The manner they handled the proceedure was to me, professionalism at its best. Once the proceedure was completed, baby Shirdesh was closely monitorred for the rest of the day by the nurses.  He was just fine.  I want to say to the people of South Africa” you have done all you could for baby Shirdesh,  Let GOD now do the rest. HE is in charge now and he knows best.  All we need to do now is pray to GOD to make this miracle happen.” IT IS NOW IN HIS HANDS.

The next treatment is scheduled for Wednesday 29/10/08. Further update can be expected shortly thereafter.

Love to all in South Africa
