Back home

March 19th, 2010

I have been home for about a week and I am finally getting caught up on my sleep. I was sick for a few days when I got home, but I’m feeling fine now. Yesterday we went and looked at a therapy place here in Elko, and it looks very promising. One of the therapists there I have worked with before and the other therapists did her internship at the University of Utah on the spinal injury team. They do have a arm bike, so they seem to be the most equipped to help me here. We also want to try to drive to Salt Lake a couple times a month to go to a therapy place over there. I’m going to get my caregivers trained on some exercises so we can do that at home, and I’m looking at trying to purchase a standing frame. The next 4 to 6 months are the most critical for stem cells, because they say this is the time they are determining where to implant and what to become.

I know I want to try and go back to China, for another round of stem cell transfusion, and about one year. So I have to get back into fund-raising again. I’m starting to make a second cookbook, so if anybody has any recipes they would like to contribute please e-mail me. I will start posting more once we get started with therapy.

    Hi,

I am from the United States, and my injury level is a C4/C5 incomplete. I have actually been paralyzed for three years now. Are you thinking about stem cell therapy? If you have any questions just ask.

    Hello Tamara,
M y name is Donald and I have the same injury level as you. I would like to get more info on how to get the stem cell procedure. I have saved the cord blood from two of my grand-children, not only for my use but for thiers as well if the need ever arises. Our wonderful government unfortunatly controls this type of research and treatment here in the land of the free. Any help and info you can pass along would be greatly appreciated.

Actually in China they use fresh cord blood stem cells (have not been frozen) that they put through their screening process, and make sure they are compatible with your blood type. I actually received 7 stem cell transfusion,2 through IV and 5 through lumbar puncture. They also provide a lot of physical and occupational therapy. You should use the website http://www.stemcellsChina.com, and request more information. They will send you an e-mail with a lot of information and prices. I also personally researched a couple other countries (Mexico, Dominican Republic, and I believe German) that are offering stem cell transfusion. With the cost of the transfusions and the airfare, it seems to me that China was the best option, I got a lot more transfusions plus therapy for around the cost for two transfusions and no therapy (Mexico and the Dominican Republic). I have also started noticing some improvements since the stem cells. I am actually hoping to raise enough money to return next year for more stem cell. If you’d like more information or just have questions about your injury/treatment feel free to ask.
