Friday 27th June – Netta

June 27th, 2008

Hi from NZ – Well what a trip that was…. We were meant to be having the whole day in Hong Kong around the pool. We had it all worked out – arrive in HK at approx. 9am and have a long, lazy, sunbathing day before my flight (which was the first and due to leave at 6.10pm).

You must be joking – it started when we arived at Hainan airport at 7am to be told the flight was delayed due to a Tyhoon in Hong Kong!!!! Never mind, we had plenty of time to spare – no worries and still quite chilled out at this stage….

We were still sat there at 12 noon and they decided to feed us all (which was good of them as we were starving by then). We were told by a lovely english speaking chinese guy that we would be boarding as soon as lunch was over – still fine – no problem – loads of time…..

We finally boarded at approx. 12.45pm and what should have taken 55minutes ended up taking over 2 hours, but hey! there had been a Typhoon and we had loads of time so no problem….

Once the plane had landed, it parked up miles away from the terminal and a bus was there to take everyone, except there was only a steep staircase between us and the bus and although Terry has been doing great since the treatment he definately wasn’t up to tackling them never mind the torrential rain and gales…. We were all given see through plastic coats to put on and mum and I spent the next 20 mins laughing at everybody – One guy was having so much trouble he just couldn’t get into it and I was laughing so much I couldn’t help him – he finally got it on  but BACK TO FRONT!!!! hahaha – he had an opening at the back of his head and he was sucking on the plastic almost suffocating himself. It was hilarious!!!!!!! As you can imagine mum and I were crying with laughter and Terry was just looking at us like we had gone mad.

Anyway – we were left on the plane while the cleaners came on and went off and we waited and waited for a lift to come for Terry. Finally a lift came and took us to the terminal – this was approx. 4pm and Terry needed to go to the loo and I ran off to try to sort out the luggage as it wasn’t going straight through – Anyway, once it was all sorted we had 30 mins before I had to board. Once on the plane we were told of another delay and we sat on the plane for another 2 hours before take off…… Finally I arrived home yesterday lunchtimish… Gonna burn my passport now! Don’t EVER want to fly again..

Don’t know how mum and Terry got on, all I know is they arrived safely and I’m sure they will update us soon.

    Hiya Jeanette,

I have just logged on, more out of habit than anything else and was delighted to see your update, I got the full story off Mum & Dad yesterday including the chap who put his plastic coat on back to front Mum could hardly speak when she was telling me, she had tears rolling down her cheeks. They did get home safe and sound the biggest change in Dad for me is his mood, he is so happy, he is smiling all the time his eyes are sparkling he looks great, I will have to wait and see the other improvements, I only had an hour with them and Dad was stiff from his flight, I know there is a massive improvement just not witnessed it first hand yet. Mum also looks great and considering your living / cooking arrangements over the last month I am surprised you all look so well.

I am not surprised you want to burn your passport what a bloody nightmare, at least you all made your connecting flights and eventually got home safe and sound. Thanks again Jeanette for all your fantastic updates whilst you were in China, maybe now you are home and can look at all the previous posts you will get some idea of how involved we all felt and how much we got from all the videos and comments.

Take care, love to you all

    Hi Jeanette,
I need to thank John, (my hubby) for alerting me to your message & I have now alerted Anita. What a nightmare journey for you all but at least you & your Mum managed to get a really good laugh out of the situation & it seems Terry coped well. At least you are now all safely home. Loved the fashion pictures – good photos as ever. Look after yourself & Paul, or perhaps he will be looking after you for a few weeks, (well, days maybe).
Bye for now & thanks again for being with Terry & Lynda.
    Love Janis

Your poor things. You’re very brave to fly at all, I much prefer the old boat trip but needs must, eh? Thanks for continuing to keep us up to date.

The photos are ace, you and your mum look like little waterlogged pixies and Terry looks so good.

I bet you’re just longing for a nice long rest now which is well deserved.

PS As to any future panto casting, Terry has no say in the matter, believe me.

    Hi

Thanks so much for the latest blog. What an end to your experience, and a free raincoat in with the price.

Thank you so much for all your videos and updates that you have given to us over the past four weeks. It has been the highlight of our day and was so nice to feel involved- also nice to read all the comments and feel part of the family.

It was good the you could give the time to support Terry & Lynda and we are not alone in saying how much we appreciate you having been there with them, also thanks to your family for being without you for those weeks- we hope that they appreciate you now that you are home.

We are looking forward to seeing Terry & Lynda but it will not be until August as we are on holiday for a couple of weeks in July.

Take care & we hope that we will be able to meet up with you & all the family when you next visit England.

    love
    Anita & Rodger
