Last day in China!

Well Trinity had her VEP exam at the Eye Institute today and her right eye has improved since the initial exam!!!  Which means she should gain some vision in that eye anywhere from 1 to 6 months…the doctor stated that her left eye is about the same when we first arrived.  The stem cells are going to take some time to develop we are remaining positive, trusting and believing God to heal Trinity’s eyes.  We all are soooooo blessed to have traveled to China and thankful for having the opportunity of giving our baby the chance to see!  We appreciate the doctors, nurses, translators, and staff because when every doctor in the U.S. told us that it was nothing that can be done…we had HOPE here at China. We have met some wonderful families from all across the world and had an unforgetable experience here in China…we are so proud to call America home! In closing as Trinity said every day sometimes two or three times a day, “God is able, and He won’t Fail!”  So we are praying for safe travels home and we will be in touch as soon as we land also to report any changes in Trinity’s vision.

Trinity had her 5th treatment Friday it went well…she is becoming a little home sick now…she ask about going back to the states and often says she misses her friends and teachers at school…so we are all counting down the days…this will be our last weekend here in China!

21st day in China

After Trinity’s therapy today the doctor visited us as usual….he shined the penlight into Trinity’s eyes and stated that her pupils did react very slightly!  Although we haven’t noticed obvious or dramatic changes in her vision, we thank God for the “little things”…all is well and we know that it’s going to take some time…we will keep you posted!

16th, 17th, and 18th day in China

This weekend was laid back…we didn’t have any therapy Saturday and Sunday so we went out sight seeing…we had a good time and saw some very interesting things…in Qingdao they are very proud of hosting the sailing Olympics in 2008 and Beijing which is about an hour by plane from here held the 2008 Olympics…so every where you go there is something about the Olympics….Saturday we went to the Olympic Sculpture…it is very big and beautiful…there is a big lake if you want to go boat riding and rides for kids (really cheap)…we got a taste of Old China at an open market we went to on Sunday, they sell everything you can imagine for really cheap too, some of the areas are so crowded that it’s scary…we also had to beware of pick pocketers so I didn’t pull out my camera too much because I was too busy trying to watch my purse I wouldn’t have bought my purse and wore what I had on but this America couple that lives here wanted to show us Old China and we wasn’t prepared for that type of outing but it was very interesting … the pics can say more than I can…it was quite an adventure!

Trinity will have her 4th treatment on Monday and 5th treatment on Friday..we will be in touch.

15th day in China

This morning started out as usual with more therapy…the electric overhaul wasn’t so bad..it was nice and breezy this morning and the power was not out as long as expected…we had an appointment today downtown at the Eye Institute…they did a VEP (visual evoked response) on Trinity…this test determines how much she can see and how fast her brain responds to light…she had one of these type of test before…the results were the same concluding that Trinity has no light perception, her optic nerves are not developed but her right eye is a little better than her left…even though we heard this many times before we always pray for better results….she will have this test repeated after her last treatment to see if there are any changes…I KNOW THERE WILL BE!  Well the taxi ride was an adventure! Me and mom hold hands and pray the whole time….there are no stop signs and no rules or regulations…any time Trinity is sitting in the back seat saying, “Hold on to the car!” you know the driving is crazy.

Well the doctor did reiterate to us that the stem cells can take from 3 to 6 months to develop…everybody is different and we should see changes before we leave China or we may not see them until we get home…so it’s in God’s hands and we just pray for the best results…

14th day in China

Today Trinity started with therapy and had her third stem cell treatment via IV…everything went well!  It seems as if her appetite has increased since we have been here…we are running out of her favorite snacks (pudding, apple sauce, and instant oatmeal) and they are not available here in China.  We have tried to buy some similar items but it’s  just not the same…we are all trying to get accustomed to things here like sleeping on a box spring (it’s so hard on our backs) and not having our favorite meals readily available.  One of the translators just informed us that the hospital is having an electrical overhaul which means we will be without electricity from 9am-6pm tomorrow…I guess they don’t have generators here?  Needless to say, looking on the bright side…..we will turn tomorrow into a SHOPPING DAY!

13th day in China

Well dinner was pretty good last night…the restaurant was named Hot Pot…you pick two types of meat and they cook it in front of you…at our table we ordered shrimp and chicken and the other table ordered beef and clams…they mix different types of vegetables in it like mushrooms, carrots, onions, garlic, and add a thick sauce kind of like soy sauce (i guess?) and they serve it with white rice…everybody ate out of the pot that the food was cooked in…and it was actually pretty good the only difficult thing was that they cook the shrimp with head and shell on so we had to peel and take the head off…which gets a little messy…the locals eat the whole shrimp with shell and all!!!   Tuesday Trinity had therapy in the morning and afternoon…and we took a long walk outside… and that was pretty much it! Tomorrow she will have her third treatment so I will fill you guys in on that tomorrow..

We met with the doctors this morning they are all very nice and stated that after her fourth treatment she should see some type of improvement!!!!! We asked them about the eye pain that she complained of after her second treatment and they stated that it was normal and a good sign.  Her third treatment will be Wednesday…it will be given through IV.  Tonite we are going out to eat with another family that’s here and YES IT’S CHINESE CUISINE….so wish us luck we will tell you all about it next time!!!!
