wayne’s sci blog

June 18th, 2007

We hope you all had a good weekend. We had physical therapy Saturday with elec. acupuncture, elec. stims, computerized machine for the wrists to strengthen, standup frame, and range of motion, massage, strengthening and flexibility exercises on the mat. That was pretty much our morning and early afternoon. We are becoming very daring; no, it’s just Wayne has had enough rice and noodles fixed anyway you can. We wanted to show we’re versatile so we went to Kentucky Fried Chicken. I was really thirsty so I tried to buy a bottle of water. In Chinese this cost 2RMB’s or a quarter in our currency. I tried 3 places to give them 2 bills, each 1 RMB and they refused. I was really frustrated and when we returned to the hospital I found out why. I had received counterfeit money from KFC. I think we’ll stick with McDonalds! Jarrett enjoys “haggling ” on the streets. The Chinese place their goods on the sidewalks and you can barter with them. He has quite a collection. Sunday we enjoyed some quiet time together. This was the first Father’s Day we’ve ever spent away from the kids and I usually see my Dad. We talked to them on the phone, but it’s not quite the same. Physical therapy was done today by Jarrett and I. In the hospital the staff works 6 days a week. I’m writing this while Wayne is in the procedure room receiving his second stem cell injection. There are 12 pts. receiving injections today. The cells arrived late so the procedure didn’t start until after 4:30p.m. Wayne is back in his room talking and no pain. They must have used only minimal anesthetic. I am also learning patience its not easy being on the waiting side not knowing. i hope this will heighten my sensitivity for pts. We’ll close for now “Have Faith in God.” Jesus answered. “I tell you the truth,” if anyone says to this mountain,’Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what He says will happen it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.’ Mark 11: 22-24 God Willing Wayne and Deb

I am just now reading your most recent BLOG. It is 7:50 am on Monday morning. We saw Eileen at the Oakdale restaurant yesterday noon. She looks good. All is well here & we might get a little rain today finally.

My June 18th calendar says “Every moment is full of wonder and God is always present.” He is present with you. Please know that we all continue to hold you in our prayers. See you soon.

Wayne, I’m glad to hear the second injection wasn’t as painful. Does it get less painful or do you become accustomed to the pain? How is the physical therapy makeing you feel? I’m sure its exhausting; my wishful thinking is trying to send you strength.
Deb, I’m so proud of you for braving this foreign country, are you having any flashbacks to Europe? That is horrible that a business would give you counterfeit money, they’ll understimate you next time because now you’ll be prepared. Have a great day/afternoon/evening (I can’t keep the time difference straight)!
    Love

I’ll be at nofengshui@yahoo.com, and I’ll leave it on and open incase anyone from here is near the computer when you sign on. Love and peace to you all! God’s prayers are always answered!

Wayne & Deb: We were with Bill and JoAnn last Friday night and they informed us about your blog. We pray that your fondest aspirations are achieved and you return home safely. While you are over there see if you can recover some of the $680 billion dollars we owe them. See you soon, BB

    Hi Wayne & Deb
Kristy called me today and ask if I wanted to come over and read your notes. I’m so out of touch with the technological world, still can’t believe we can even do this! It sounds like all is going well and is an experience for both of you. As has been said before, if anyone can, Wayne can! Mike and I wish you a safe trip and look forward to some day “dirty dancing” again, remember?
    All our love and prayers,
    Debbie & Mike

    Wayne & Deb,
First of all, “Happy Father’s Day”, Wayne. I think I finally figured out that you’re awake while we’re sleeping. Because it’s now 3:00 p.m. and you have already been through a whole day, and according to Markita’s blog, she read your blog before 8:00 a.m.
Glad to hear the injections are behind you and in your body to start working. It’s crazy to think that you received counterfeit money at KFC. How did they know at the hospital that is was counterfeit? Could you tell once you knew?
I know Wayne, that you are a huge golf fan, I hated it that you had to miss the US Open, I’m sure Brandon kept you abreast of everything. Tiger couldn’t hit his putts for anything Cardinals did win, but pitchting is still a real problem.
I don’t know who is cutting your grass, but they shouldn’t have to worry about it. The rain that came from the southwest pretty much fell apart, but a chance still remains after a cold front moves through. I’m sure you are much more concerned about the crops than you are your grass. We will pray for that, too.
A little quote for you before I sign off. “Faith is to believe what you do not yet see; the reward for this faith is to see what you believe.”
    God Willing!

    Wayne and Deb.

This blog (whatever a blog is) is a wonderful way to keep everyone informed of your progress. You have so many people thinking and praying for you — God is sure to bless you with a wonderful outcome to this treatment. I make sure I check your site every day for your progress first thing when I get to work (I’m sure Mark won’t mind I am using company time!!!!). Sorry about the bad luck with the counterfeit money — you must look like tourists or something that they thought they could rip you off. We had a big shower in Covington this morning — six drops. We are really hoping that front brings us relief later this afternoon — hopefully, it hasn’t fizzled out on us like it seems to like to do. Larry and Dennis finished up with wheat this past Saturday and are waiting on rain to finish the double crop beans. (Quite the farm wife to know all of this stuff, aren’t I????) I will check in on you again tomorrow Wayne to see how it is going. Oh yeah Deb — I remember too hot HOTTTTT it was at FMC all the time — and I don’t even get hot! God’s blessing to all of you — Watch your money!

Wayne, I\’m doing for you what your mother did for me — pray. With the same outcome, I trust. Her prayers arose from faith and righteousness; mine from hope and perseverance. Either way, Jesus hears them all.

Hey Aunt Deb & Uncle Wayne, Just wanted to let you know you have remained in my daily thoughts and prayers. Your bravery and courage is an inspiration and I am blessed to have you in my life. Love you – Tina

    Deb and Wayne–
I know that God hears prayer
    Although the burdens may
Seem greater than the heart can bear,
    Still, day by day,
He eases them; a little here, a little there,
In answer, and some fitting hour
    Along the road,
He stoops and lifts the load,
And bids us go, lighthearted, glad,
Stronger through testing we have had.

I know that God hears prayer.
    We lift our praise,
And through his bright eternal days
    The sound comes clear–
    Like music to his ear.
Yea, every word of every prayer
    Loosed on the air
Will bring an answer if we wait,
Though it come soon or late.
“I Know That God Hears Prayer”
    Grace Noll Crowell
    God bless your time together.
    In our Lord–Larry and Rosalee

    Wayne & Deb.
Hope you had a good day. I’m getting ready to go to bed, so you must be ready to get up. If I have it right, you are already on June 21. That is my oldest granddaughter’s birthday. She is seven where you are, and will be seven on Thursday, here. I guess you could travel on your birthday, and celebrate it twice. I don’t know about you guys, but one day a year is enough for me.
Time really is flying by. I guess you, Deb, will be heading back to the US soon. I’m sure you will have to answer a lot of questions when you get back. Remember I have an appointment coming up, so you had better schedule me for two appointments instead of one. We always to seem to take that much time already.
Have a good day, Hope to hear from you.
    God Willing!
    Gene and Carol
