wayne’s sci blog

June 25th, 2007

Hello everyone, I’m sorry to say Shakespeare is out of the house(hospital) Deb is back in Nashville. I will attempt to continue the blog but it will be much more brief . Palma if you read this you can deny you had me for English in high school. The weekend was long and less structured. My highlight was a lady named Angela whose significant other is a pt. from Rohde Island brought me pancakes and syrup. It was delicious! I have noticed increasing strength, more electrical activity in arms and legs . I also have less pain. I keep trying to remember a thought passed on to me – We must experience our weakness to experience God’s strength. Brittany is sending me sports trivia and Brandon keeps me up on the lack of rain and farming news.. Sure wish I could send some of this rain to Washington County. The days can’t go fast enough. I don’t know why I was given such little patience. I want the days to go by faster and the stem cells to work faster and to be back with the one’s I love. With God, the impossible becomes possible. God Willing Wayne

    Hey Guys!

Just wanted to let you know that we too are also keeping you in our prayers! I only wish time would slow down around here! We are busy getting prepared for the black and red of Rend Lake. Ryan has played golf with coach Smith several times and he has began making changes – Ry has yet to see the improvement. Ryan doesnt have much patience either Wayne. Coach must be a character, asking Ryan to keep the parties at apt. to less than 35! He also had some comments on women and beer! We will tell you that later in private. Team should be pretty good. Schwankhaus, who will be a soph., shot a 59 at Okawville last week. Smith compares this team to Brandon’s often. Again our prayers are with you.

    Much Love,
    Jeff, Tammy, Ryan and Rylee

    Hey Wayne,
Welll it sounds like your patience will be tested now, what with Deb gone – (that two weeks seemed to go by fast here, but I know it drags for you.)
Sounds like it’s been a real dry early summer in Wn. county – we could sure spare a few rains to send there! It has been a wet season so far around here. No danger of flooding here though like in some areas, the creeks don’t rise much – it all goes down hill so fast, or underground. There are a lot of underground springs here you know. And Hot Springs didn’t get it’s name for no reason. A couple of the big bottled water companies have operations here. Ozarka Natural Spring Water and I don’t know who else.
We had one of our 3 day JW Conventions here in Pine Bluff, AR this weekend. One of the speakers mentioned that the average life span was about 26,000 days – I did a quick calculation and realized I was about 2,400 past the average… Guess a lot of us are living on borrowed time, right? Well they had a lot more positive things to say than that and it was a very good spiritual ‘builder upper’.
Some of the hints you mention in your Blogs about ‘more electrical activity’ certainly sounds good Wayne! Believe me we’re all pulling and praying for the best for you!
You’ll be home before you know it, and we’re planning to see you some time this fall.
    Best Wishes, Paul & Phyllis

Hello Wayne, I apologize for not getting back on hear sooner. I have been keeping up with the blog. My heart jumps up to my throat everytime I hear good news coming from across the pond. You are in our prayers constantly. Rehab is going good here(although not as intense as you are getting-believe me I remember).

Turn every obstacle into an opportunity.

    Hi Wayne,
It sounds like things are going well. Hang in there and wait for it to happen. Rain update — it is pouring here in Nashville right now(at my desk again) Monday, 12:15 p.m.. This part of the county is getting it again — I’m hoping we get something additional in Covington today. I hear Oakdale got over an inch between Saturday and Sunday’s showers. There are parts of the county that haven’t even had a tenth yet. I hope the good Lord is finally opening the heavens for all of us. Sounds like a good chance of rain through the week. We had about .6 so far (that incoludes the japanese beetles in the rain gauge). OK enough of the rain woes of the county. It is good to hear from you each time. I wasn’t sure the blog would continue daily once Deb returned but it is so good to hear the continued updates and progress. We all continue to pray for you. I’ll ask God to increase your patience level too while I am at it. Take care — talk to you later.

Wayne, Good job keeping the blog updated. Thanks for letting me know that my lack of patience comes from my “older” brother! My theory has always been since Job had soooo much patience I figured he got part of mine.
Dennis just called and said we had a nice shower in Covington.
    Love Ya!

    Wayne & Jarrett,
Like some of the others, I wasn’t sure what to expect once Deb came back to the US. I’m pleased to find out that the torch has been passed.
I assume Deb had a safe trip home. I’m sure feeling very alone, as you must feel. You must remember that you are never alone. God is there with you every minute of every day. If the remainder of your stay goes as quickly as the two weeks Deb was there, you will be home in no time.
The last time I tried to send you a message it wouldn’t send. I’m not sure why it is so stubborn sometimes.
You won’t believe how crazy it is at our house this week. Six of my eight grandchildren are taking swimming lessons at our pool. Therefore, Janel and her four kids, and Brad’s daughter are all staying at our house for the week. Trying to save on gas money. Then Jody is over with her two most of the day and for meals. It’s really crazy, and it’s only been one day.
Besides that, my dad, at age 83-1/2, decides to buy a house – a fairly older house. Lots of repair work that leads into more repair work. Jody and I have been painting. Janel decided she would rather stay at my house and watch the kids.
The house still has old metal cabinets, which have to be painted with an oil based paint – Yuk! I had forgotten how horrible it is to paint with anything but latex.
As everyone has told you, we had a wonderful rain.
Only problem with that is that I will have to find some time to cut the grass. Oh, well, that’s a small price to pay. We desperately needed the rain.
Before I write a book, I had better quit, besides that it is very “early in the morning”.
Give Jarrett our best, also. He has no idea who we are, and we have no idea who he is, but we know that he is an integral part of you recovery.
We are so thankful to hear of the progress you are making. Praise the Lord!
    God Willing!
    Love and prayers,
    Gene and Carol

    Wayne,
It’s Tuesday morning 6/26 and rain, rain, rain. One must be careful for what one prays for. It is raining again this morning…three days days in a row. No kidding!
Our thought and prayers continue minute by minute for your positive treatments and safe return to the neighborhood.
As for patience, we must have a dialogue on it when you get home. Take comfort, you are not alone in that catagory.
God bless! Hello to Jarrett & take good care of our friend.

Wayne, be patient. You waited this long, a few more days will not be so bad.
We made it through 12 days of whirlwind activities, bridal shower for Bridget, Barb’s daughter, farm party for Sabine and her fiance Stefan, Bridget’s wedding, and a little sight seeing.
I am taking Sabine and Stefan back to Chicago today, they’ll leave tomorrow. Thursday, Christian and I will leave, and all the relatives will slowly trickle to Austria for Sabine’s wedding on July 21st.
    Love, Gerlinde

    Wayne,

I’ve been keeping up on your progress through your blog. Brandon informed us of you blog after golf a couple of Wednesdays ago. As others have indicated, we’ve rec’d some much needed rain. Mark just stepped into the office and said he figured you should have rec’d about an inch based on what he could tell at South Oak. He told me he never invested in a rain gauge because it never rains that much south of Oakdale. Eight of us went down to Makanda to play golf in a senior event. Stopped by Butch Stiegman’s and visited on the way home. Butch is facing many challenges now, but still maintains a good sense of humor. Reminds me a little of Frank.

Look forward to seeing you when you get home. Keep you in our thoughts and prays.

    John

Our comment was sent before it was complete; so to continue–Pastor Donahue’s prayer was awesome, and we pray in agreement with it. We want you to know that people in Huntsville are praying for you–our Bible School class and Redstone Arsenal Ladies Bible Study. We pray for a miracle of healing for Wayne. God bless you and keep you and give you His peace and patience.

    Love inChrist,

    Wayne and Jarrett,
Just talked to your wonderful, loving wife, Wayne. It sounded so good to hear her voice. It’s not like we talk on the phone very often, but just knowing she was so far away made me really miss her, as I’m sure you do. I know she misses you and will be so thankful when you are finally home. Of course, everyone will be thankful for your return. She sounded very excited about the progress you have made, and told me a few stories about some of the other patients.
I suppose, as the senior USA man on campus, you are probably the one that all the new patients come to for advice. Did you ever think you would be so important to people you have never met before in your life? That’s how God works! He puts us in places we never expect to be and works His miracles through us.
Jarrett, hope you are working hard to fill in for Deb. I know how much she is depending on you to take care of her dear husband. Praying for God to work in your heart also, and hopefully, you can feel him making positive changes in your life.
    You two take care.

    Where there is love, there is peace;
    Where there is peace, there is God;
And where there is God, there is no need.

    God Willing!
